You know, I'm starting to feel that some people misunderstand being flirty. I see lots of posts about texts that are very similar to this. It seems like you're taking this as some kind of contest. Like you have to beat her arguments it feels so weird. Or I don't know maybe it's just me but I really don't do this kind of flirting because it can go wrong so easily...She can take it to the wrong way any time, especially since she doesn't see your face(those smilies are useless and I like to avoid them if possible) And also what exactly is your point here with these texts? Where's the sexuality? Where is this whole thing going besides mocking her for showing some "dominance"?

Let me break this down for you:

1st paragraph, you're coming across as too cocky and arrogant. Those behaviours mixed together are seen as unattractive, which is dramatically magnified online because you have no context. Still, she flirts with you but she's clearly not interested in the current conversation.

2nd paragraph is just brutal. "Me: Yeah you are, but at least you can admit it. " that's seen as an insult, in person you could get away with it because it can be seen as cheeky. Online it gets misinterpreted because it's basically just a line of text. You're creating a bigger hole for yourself going down the same road. You still keep being this unattractive combination of cocky and arrogance, her messages are getting shorter which conveys disinterest and your messages are getting longer to her.

Online is much different than in person, clearly because there's no way of conveying that you're just kidding. So it's better to be PLAYFUL and FLIRTY. This means, let's not insult the girl... let's instead be playful and joke about silly things.

Here is an example of a girl I messaged today:
You see the difference? I'm not insulting her. I'm being playful and flirty. I'm also being very silly. People in general do not like to be judged or criticized and as that song goes, "Girls just want to have fun."

welcome to the forums. i mostly agree with the 2 posters above me. what you should be trying to do is stop having a lets-see-who-can-come-up-with-the-cooler-insult pissing contest with girls and just be more fun and playful.

heres the thing. you can figure this stuff out by fucking it up a lot. by being too mean (as david d would say too much cocky, not enough funny) and by losing girls. ive been there. as a matter of fact, ive had conversations with girls exactly like this when i first started. and i got nowhere from this type of interaction and learned. but it took a while. and i had to kinda figure it out myself.

i have some great news, though. you dont have to go through that. first of all, reread and take to heart the advice you'll get in this thread. then immediately start being more fun and playful and stop trying to always have that i'm-cooler-than-you/cocky funny/asshole response when talking to girls. because after all, as the old saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. good luck on your journey.

For the most part, I agree with the previous posters. This girl is not overly sensitive so you are getting away with being too cocky; this girl can definitely hang. But you could definitely improve on building more comfort and actually having a conversation. So far, nothing of substance has been said; no real connection has been made. See adamtaste's example. That's a nice example of being funny, playful and building comfort. I can tell that if adamtaste asked for her number, he'd likely be successful. But I'm not so sure in your case.

The fact that she initiated the second conversation is good for you. She sees some kind of value in the interaction. Personally, I'd move the conversation closer to the kind of conversation I'd have with friends: something fun, playful, but where I'm actually finding something interesting out about her personality. I'd shy away from cheesy lines like: "so what do you have going for you besides your looks" and I'd also shy away from commenting on her looks.

Last, in reference to the Title of this thread, I don't think she has tested you at all. I think she's just been talking to you and you've been barely keeping her interest with some cocky/funny lines.

My guess is that you're going to have to re-initiate the conversation (just like she did after she ended the first convo). It's really hard to step into your shoes because I have no idea what your profiles are like, etc. But I would probably start with something like: "just bought my lotto ticket. If I win, I'm traveling to the Caribbean to eat fresh mangos. Where would you go?" Or something where you can start finding out about her tastes. After all, you're a valuable guy and you need to make sure this girl meets certain expectations

I have to disagree with the above two posters. I think some comfort is actually being built here. Given the first two convo posts, I think this may have been some necessary damage control to remind her you are a down-to-earth human being. It's not a terrible thing to have those kinds of conversations every so often.

But I will agree that she will tire of this soon. MynameisFisher is right in that it would be tough to continue that convo to get a date. The next convo should have a lot more energy, and at this point it's probably best to push for a number to start texting/calling, or just ask for a date depending on the situation (not enough info here).
