I wanted to buy my girl iPod2 but I think it's too impersonal. I would probably fuck up when buying jewelery so I'm stuck.

I like to get her something cheap and quirky, but pay to share an experience together like a concert, bungy or something more adventurous. She will associate the quirky gift with the experience.

It all depends on the experience being novel, shared, enjoyable and memorable to bring a deep meaning to the quirky cheapo gift.

this. I would always go for organising something to do and then giving her something cheapish and quirky while out doing it unless she has hinted at an actual gift she wants (read expects). personally im london based but my girls not so im gonna cook dinner and then we'll go for theatre and london eye and then ill give some sort of gift on the eye.

doing this is pretty win/win because
1) you both get to enjoy the event (you chose it dumbass, make sure you'll like it!)
2) she will always associate you with that event and place
3) you can completely control the price range while still seeming really generous.
also as blind pointed out if you get a decent, lasting gift (not chocolate or flowers or some shit) she will constantly be reminded of that great day/evening you had and the object itself will be a treasured thing.

I am awesome at choosing jewellery for girls so I am doing that for my girl.

I'm also getting her some stockings and some chocolate body paint.

Good gifts have certain characteristics, surprise, thoughtfulness, lasting value, something you can enjoy too..

I've been with my GF for a while and I always give good gifts. Last Christmas I mailed her some lingerie in a gift box about a week before. It was not immediately obvious who it was from. I put a card in there saying "For my awesome sexy girlfriend. Try it on and send me pictures."

A few years ago I left a wrapped necklace (nothing real expensive) and a romantic note with her mom on thanksgiving, and told her to leave it under the tree. We spent that x-mas apart with our families. Apparently there were water works. She absolutely loved the surprise. I got big points from her mom.

Girls usually like sexy clothes/shoes. Aim for sexy/fun but not trashy. Just be sure to secretly measure the current things she wears that fit and go somewhere online that has good measurements in the description and a good return policy. Zappos is a good place. Buying clothes takes effort and research. Most guys are not confident enough to do it.

perfume and a few other various things to show her I listened over the past 6 months.

Never considered the sex toy idea that's getting the mind thinking.


Her birthday is 2 weeks after xmas, I gotta be tactical in what I buy when

Haha my girlfriend's too! Let me know what you think of. I'm thinking of taking her to Disneyland and buy her a gift from the gift shop there, what do you guys think? For her birthday, I'll take her to some nice restaurant on top of a building where the whole city shows and give her jewelry, is this too much guys?

How about things that appeal to her hobbies? I'm honestly not the type of girl who wears perfume/makeup/heels on a daily basis. Some of the best gifts I received for Christmas and birthdays were : SURPRISE: video games! Yes! So pay attention to the stuff she likes to do when you aren't around. Scrapbooking? Puzzles? Music? For example, on our (mine and LTR) very first Valentine's Day together, I got Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. We played that bitch together, and still talk about Raziel and his plight to this day! Just some ideas in addition to the jewels and sex toys
