I always miss out on social events because most of them cost money. Now that football is over with,my friends want to go bowling or go to the movies every friday.I don't really have much money. What's the solution to this.

I do not mean this as a put down, i intend this to be an honest response.

Get a job so you have some extra spending money. If you already have a consistant job, and are still short on cash, re-evaluate your finacial situation.

What i mean by this is budget your money. Figure out how much money a week you have to work with and what you currently spend it on. If you can do without some things and would like to go out every friday with your friends more then x thing, then remove x thing from your budget.

If this isnt possible it may be time to look for other work that can potentially make you more money.

Like i said earlier i am not at all trying to put you down, i too have very little money to work with but i can go out and be with people, friends or otherwise, because i set aside the money to do it. I value going to these socail outtings more then some other things, so i make sure i have some money for it.

On ocassion i must back out and not go because i cannot afford it, but thats how things work.

Also as i understand it you are in high school. There are plenty of free things to do that are socail when you are in school. Join after school activites, hang out at places were many people your age go like the mall. Find something fitting to your intrests, if your athletic play sports with buddies or on a team...if your artistic then get into a dance class or a art club.

Work on forming a social netowrk of school friends and before you know it you will be getting invited to parties and things.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Ka here there are a lot of opportunities in high school to be social and meet people. Joining like a boosters where they help do stuff for the pep rallies and stuff is cool. Everyone, has a cash shortage now and then. Try and suggest playing basketball at the park or something that is free.

When in doubt maybe get a job that pays a little better or pick up some extra hours if you can.

Maybe coach some juniors in wrestling, if you consider yourself qualified enough.

future...

check the net. we have a few sites here (w.thatsmelbourne.com) which have listings of things to do for free in the city... ie festivals, stalls etc.

find one for your city and offer this alternate to your friends...

and if you are in that much money trouble that you cant afford to go bowling, then you seriously need to refer to the above posts....
