Don't wanna in this guy's position:

For music, I just grab random ass songs I've heard before and fashion I'm clueless. This needs to change.

You know when someone just gets excited about music they are listening to or music that is recent? How do you get in the know?

Basically, its pretty lame when you say "I just grab random ass songs I find upbeat/pleasant or whatever"

How do people get really into genres of music and have something interesting and meaningful to say about them?

And for fashion there must be ways to get into the trends and learn about clothes appropriate for certain tribes or settings.

Find what you like. Find side projects that artists you enjoy are doing. Find out who inspires them. If it is a guitarist, for example, find out what gear and guitars they use that others are using as well for those signature tones. Just start digging.

You can`t follow a certain style, you just gotta explore your interests and express them in a positive way. Half the time the girls will disagree with your taste, but take a second to remember you ARE the prize, not her. Soon you then realize she`s qualifying for your validating even having disagreeing with your interests to her. Her interests becoming meaningfulness. So take it from me, sense of fashion and interests only go so far, it really comes down to how you say your interests in a way where she has to validate herself.

Girl: What kind of music are you into?
PUA: I'm here and there, I don't stick to a certain type of genre. You look like a RNB girl.
Girl: Yeah I like RNB, do you?
PUA: I`m more of a Trance guy.
Girl: Ew, I hate trance.
PUA: Who asked for your opinion? *smiles* (This is only if you've set up a great rapport with the girl and you guys just decided to ask about each other`s interests.)
