I need some tips to improve my converation skills.I can talk to people for a little while, and then I run out of interesting things to say.How can I fix this?
I think I have a pretty good grasp of how to be an expert in the art of conversation, because thats what it is, an art. I may miss a few points here so feel free to add on if I miss anything.
Here is where most people mess up, on fluff talk. They don't know what to talk about... its pretty easy actually. The answer is ANYTHING. travel, movies, family, friends, your visit to the gay pride parade, it really doesn't matter. Just be sure not to ask yes or no questions, for example:
AFC: So whats your major?
Girl: Psychology
AFC: Do you like it?
Girl: (im gonna give him the same answer to the same question every guy and their mother asks me) Yes
Now here is how a master in conversation does it?
PUA: College, the good ol' days, whats your major?
Girl: Psychology
PUA: (ask for her hands) So what am I thinking right now?
or
PUA: Interesting, I just read this book on human dynamics and they said the energy levels in conversations directly relate to how comfortable you are with the person. So what made you decide to get into psych?
As juggler once put it, there are two different ways to take a conversation.. you can ask questions, or make statements. Take a look at two friends, they speak in statement form. To get them more comfortable, tell them how you feel. I like this book, i like this drink, I like getting head while driving 80 down the freeway.
So once again, it really doesn't matter what you talk about, whatever comes into your head. Just put it into statement form and you should be fine.
