Not to hijack the thread but man.. you have no idea! I read in your article about groove and how improvisation and flow is what lets you actually dance. So I looked up on wikipedia forms of dance that heavily utilize improv and came up with
Lindy Hop/West Coast Swing
Blues
Argentine Tango
Bellydance
and Contact Improv
I bought Jesse Ki'une's pickupdance.com dvd's and practiced those in my living room and took an intro to dance class that covered Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, and Jazz so I would understand stuff like triple steps and how to count etc, then signed up for a Ballroom class and started dancing Jitterbug Swing (single count East Coast, really easy for beginners to pick up).
Haha oh man some of the reactions I got when I started using moves from Ki'une's style out swing dancing! I didn't know enough moves at the time to sustain a full 3 minute song so I just mixed and matched what I could, and that was when I stopped doing moves and started learning to actually dance.
Since going to exchanges and dance camps and getting really involved in the Lindy and Blues scenes I just started getting into Argentine Tango which is the most incredible dance I've ever done, though Blues comes in a close second

I even tried your recommendation and brought a couple of my friends to a Zouk workshop! I did it after a Salsa teacher told me I was essentially doing Zouk anyways when my dance partner and I crashed an outdoor Salsa event and just did our own thing to the music because we didn't know any Salsa at all.
On of my creative projects after taking 3 months of group class in bellydance is to make the moves I learned into partnered moves. It's so much fun
You heavily influenced my dancing direction, and now I am out dancing 2-3 nights a week and attending dance camps and exchanges monthly. I just want to say thank you! And to everyone else out there, it's been a magical and life changing journey, filled with adventure, friends, and beautiful women.
