I was with a buddy of mine at the mall and I told him I wanted to open up this two set by myself. I went up and gave them the "so my friend's gf made out with a guy and he was involved in it, almost like a threesome. Is this cheating?" After about 30 seconds of them looking at each other and wondering about the situation, they became interested and I had their full attention. I tried ESP on them and I guessed right and just when it came time to close, I FROZE UP. I couldn't isolate my target(They were both HB8's; one a brunette and a blonde). So, I ended up leaving the set and politely ejecting myself by saying "nice meeting you guys." I felt like such a failure, I definitely got IOIs and I know I could've at least number closed. I need better advice for next time. Any tips?

Was that the whole sequence? You opened, ran esp, then closed? You can only have faith in # closing if you've demonstrated enough value and gained a fair amount of comfort and rapport. Considering that the environment is a mall and you're by yourself isolating may not be the right course of action (unless perhaps your with wing). Make sure to add in a FTC (false time constraint) with the opener as it can make you appear non-threatening (which is the key) and can help you close. To # close you can do several things. Two things you can do is say: "What steps can we take to continue this conversation" or "Well I've got to be going but here (pull out phone and hand to target*) enter your digits and i'll text you sometime".
