I think the art of pick up is all about reading people very quick ... like if she looks like a fun/party girl a more sexual opener might work.. and if the girl looks shy: a normal conversation with a compliment is more in place.. Then a second thing to remember is how you present yourself to her(If you look funny for example) she is likely to understand it's a joke , if your acting like a clown while giving her a compliment.. you probably understand where im going with this;)
