I purposely did not join the facebook band wagon. I wanted to stop using the internet as a crutch and actually be social in person.

I feel not having a Facebook has hurt a little bit...so many opportunities are being wasted not having one.

But then on the other hand, I do not have a very amazing life yet. I've just started my journey to become good with women, and do not have many friends or any pictures at all with me being socially attractive. My profile, besides saying someone snarky in the profile section, would be very boring, possibly screwing over future sarges (oh this guy is somewhat interesting, lets check him out, oh, he's not as deep as he came across in the approach, never mind). I can see that happening alot, a woman making a shallow judgement call off my weak facebook profile.

Bottom line is, do you think it's better for me to stay away from Facebook like I have been doing, or is the rewards of more opportunities worth having a weak profile at first until I become awesome?

yes make one... you want a girl to think about you as much as possible, if she has a bunch of pictures of you that she WILL look through, she will think about you a lot more. You don't have to use it to MEET girls, but to keep them thinking about you it's very useful. Its also a great way to meet girls though too, I add random girls all the time.

I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon either, but now I'm enjoying the ride. It's useful for lots of other stuff as well (news feed, photo sharing, etc.) so it's beyond it's usual purpose now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably give in and make one.

It may look like I'm overthinking this, and yeah, I probably am.

But I really have weighed the pros and cons here. I never wanted one because I don't want future employers or friends making first impressions on me based off of it, I don't want to get into the traps of myspace such as getting too used to using facebook in place of a cell phone or actually face to face contact, which is a real danger at my beginner level. And I really don't want to have one of those "dead" profiles, you know what I'm talking about. The one where the person has 30 friends, all male, like 3 pictures taken 2 years ago, all pictures taken by the facebook owner with only themselves in the picture.

Cause that's what my profile is going to look like until I work on my social life.

Edit: skip messaging guys, it works on myspace. But I think on Facebook you can only add friends of friends... Not sure,.. Also, try to use a profile pic not on your PoF or okcupid...

I was being kind of dick my last post here. Sorry.

I was in the same position a few years back. Didn't really have many good friends after moving to a new place - so no group pics. Here's what I did:

Setup a face book, and added all my cousins. Not everybody will know they are you're cousins, and if the good looks run in the family... Well... You get the point.

Add old high-school friends, people you may have worked with, etc...

Go to pof, ok-Cupid, or what ever. Find fatties with cute face shots, and can be passé for 7's in there pics. Run some game and add them. Look at all their pics first though. Women that are intersted in you will look at other girls pics on your friends list. So if you have a bunch of fatties with flab, not good.

Add a bunch of hip local clubs, bit not too many. If your into say motorcycles... add a few motorcycle dealers.

Send a shit load of requests to hip looking guys... You'll get a few that will add you, so it looks like you have some cool friends. Just make sure to look at thier profile, making sure they're not gay, or what not.

Add your best pic as the main one, and only upload that one. So it looks like you care less, and are not really into the facebook thing.

If you have a cool job add in the title.

Don't fill anything else out.

Tell women you are gaming, you just got a facebook a few weeks ago, and just use it to keep in touch with relatives out of state.

Only post funny ass status updates, and only do it about once every few weeks..

That should help project the image your cool, but just don't card about facebook.
