I don't even care anymore.
Not knowing is not the same as 'not caring'. It's not that you don't care now, you probably didn't care enough from the very beginning. What's with so many people replying, Well, let's just kill the monkey or let's just not kill the monkey? I suppose it's just as easy for you to say, "Let's just kill my mother" or "let's just kill my father".

How about this? Let's pretend that the 'mother' in this story is your Sony Playstation and your 'father' in this story is your xBox. Now, really . . . seriously . . . one of those things are going to be taken away from you. Now what do you do? Act fast because 50% of your thumb twiddling fun is going to disappear quite soon.

Since I don’t play any of these, you could take both away from me and I wouldn’t care at all. Maybe people answer the question without really thinking about they know their parents are not in real danger. In fact, if I knew I would lose one of my parents by making a decision. I would certainly trips balls! Then again, the monkey didn’t give us enough information. He just said something that would happen anyway. Maybe if he could give us more information about the death of our parents, we could get a full comprehension of what is going on. But he doesn’t.

Kasabi, If I told you: Your mother will die if you don’t answer this post, and you father will die if you do. Would you be that scared about it? Chances are that I’m lying. And even if I wasn’t, I just pointed out facts.

The only winning move is not to play.

I forget which parent you just killed but I guess you wouldn't really care about this.

Oh come on man, why do you have to bring MY FOLKS into this mess? Look, I only answered your post to help you out with a silly little joke. There's no reason to turn this around to me even if it's to prove an unprovable point. Just relax and try to figure it out. Jeeze. . . .

I'm sorry. I didn't want you to take it personal. I guess I just tried to reverse the situation so I could get a hint.

Anyways, I'll stop posting on that tread "blind" answers and really think about it until I come up with something that really worth reading.

How many times did you meditate?
I meditated 4 times, max 12 min, it was hard to block every thought and focus on the candle, but if im trying to find the answer to this question and need to focus on it, but the goal of mediditating is to block every thought, then..... what is the point

Why do you need to answer this question so badly?

Meditating is the answer. There is no correct answer, hence the boy has to meditate in order to know what is best for him.

The answer is that there is no answer.

The only knowledge you have is that you have no knowledge.

Seek to understand rather than learn to know.

...but that's just me...

I have only read the first 5 pages of this thread, but here are my two cents (excuse me if it has been posted previously)

Stop. You must think before you shoot me.

You must think before you shoot me. This implies that neither of your parents will die, unless you make a DECISION: to shoot the monkey or don't. If the boy keeps on pondering, keeps on thinking, and not making a choice (kill or live), neither of his parents will die.

Monkey Mind
Prepared by Laura Simms

A young boy went into the bush to hunt with his bow and arrow. He saw a monkey on the branch of a tree and aimed his arrow. The monkey spoke to him, "Stop. You must think before you shoot me. If you kill me, your mother will die and if you do not kill me, your father will die."
Hm. The boy will have to make a decision regardless. So this is implying (in the world of PUA) the monkey is the HB, the boy is the potential PUA, and the decision to kill either parents is the decision to sarge, or not to sarge.
