you've just gotta show that you're not phased by it. I don't think that serious responses work that well, but at the same time you don't want to be so jovial about it that you seem flustered. Half the time it's just the girl testing you so just do whatever to change the subject or make a joke and move on.

How about "Jesus! I only just met you and you're already telling me all your problems?!" I have that one handy and it's so unexpected it gets a laugh.

In my experience, the IHAB statement can carry different weight and connotations depending on exactly when during your interaction she says it. One time, this girl I met in a bar said it to me immediately after I opened and I countered playfully with "What, just the one?" which made her laugh out loud and I continued as if nothing had happened and was able to k and n close her that night. Later on, I found out she didn't have a bf at all when she told me that, so I guess she was using that line as a filter or part of her bitch shield or whatever.

Then again, if a girl gives you the IHAB line after you've been chatting to her for quite a few minutes and doing your kino escalation, then she usually means it and I don't know if there's all that much you can do at that stage. I don't have any practical experience with that particular scenario since it's not happened to me (so far).
