Hey y'all. Right now I speak in a high quick voice with random pauses. I've been practicing talking lower, but I need some help making my voice sound smooth and calm and less jumpy. Any ideas besides just talking more slowly?

start chain smoking :P

Seriously though, your chest and nasal passages are resonating cavities for your voice. Focus on deep breaths and being as relaxed as possible, and try to talk "through" the person you're talking to. Don't yell, but be firm and authoritative and don't forget to also [/b]slow down what you're saying.

It takes a while (took me over 6 months) and I still have to think about it, but it really does change the way people interact with you, especially in loud venues. Hope my rambling helps man :P

Don't know if this would work but theoretically it should hold some value, find someone you'd like to emulate, a voice that represents power, and practice talking "with" him. So watch a movie, say James Earl Jones(to me the end all be all of powerful voices), watch Coming to America and talk at his pace and try to sound like him. You are looking to copy the same speed and tone. So find someone you would like to sound like and speak "with" them so to speak.

You can record yourself, while listening to it(the movie/radio/etc.) through earphones, this will make it so you can hear what your voice sounds like to everyone else.

a really great way to have a low deep voice is to say repeat this phrase "ding dong, king kong, bing bong" say this 3 times. However, do it once a week because the effect is really big. The first time say it with your normal voice. The second time with a little deep voice. The third time with a really deep voice. However, once you say ding dong, king kong, bing bong, remember to stop at the "ng" part and say it for 7 seconds. Hope this helps.

"Ding Dong, King Kong, Bing Bong"
