I used to be into magic for a while a couple of years back and I learned this great trick which is bloody easy to do and it gets reactions, and I was thinking maybe you could incorporate it somehow.

Basically the trick is showing someone that you can stop your own heart. You get them to feel for your radial pulse (wrist) then, with a lightly closed fist and your fingers obscured perhaps by your other hand, you very gently and subtly twitch your index and middle fingers inwards towards your palm mimicking your heartbeat. Basically the trick is they'll be feeling your tendons move, not your pulse so you can control the pulse however you want and slowly make it stop completely - to really make them buy it, you've gotta close your eyes and act like you really have to concentrate.

Now what I was thinking was for a bit of kino, as you explain to them that you can make your heart stop, ask them "Do you know how to take someone's pulse?" then you take their hand and place your fingers over their radial artery and say "See? Like this." - sets the whole thing up and you get a bit of kino in the process. Also, I figure in the process you're getting them accustomed to touching you.

Also, I was thinking as a bonus instead of making your heart stop, you could make it speed up and get really strong and you can pull some line about how she made your heart do that. -OR- As you start, your 'heart' could be pounding and you say "See what you're doing to me? *laugh*", then slowly make it stop completely.

Do you think it's too cheesy or is it workable?

TIP: If you're gonna do it - somewhere dark is better so you don't have to obscure your fingers so much and make sure your fingers don't accidentally brush her hand in the process otherwise it'll give it away.
Also, the more you roll your wrist towards yourself, the more you can feel the tendons and vice versa - so you can play with that as well as another variable. Just practice it on yourself!

May not work if she has worked in healthcare and knows how to actually find a pulse. Also, if you're presumably young, healthy, and out and about, your pulse will probably be pretty strong and regular. Still, if she humors you, thats a great IOI

Yeah that's true.. If you know she's not though, it can still work. I've seen it performed heaps of times and it works, the only time it hasn't worked was because they caught the moving fingers out. Only reason I've never done it is because I feel like an idiot acting like I'm feeling faint!

If you stick something in your armpit and squeeze it or pinch the inside of your biceps on the artery there it actually does stop the pulse in your wrist.

If you ever meet nurses when your out try it on them, it really freaks them out!

You can actually stop the pulse on your wrists though, get them to feel your real pulse, and the trick is to have a golf ball or something hard under your armpit, pull your arm down to your side so the ball is pushing into your inner arm and it will actually slow your pulse to a stop
