eating too much protein does not give you spots and doesn't damage ones liver either this is a myth
I dunno about the liver, but too much protein can give you kidney stones, and also make your bones weak. It makes your blood acidic, and your body counters this by taking calcium out of your bones and into your blood, and then this has to be removed by the kidneys (where it can form stones). I think drinking plenty of water helps with this.
90% of the guys who consider themselves experts on exercise have a hugely inflated concept of how much protein we need. You can also get gout which is a build up of urea crystals (metabolized protein) in your joints, often in the toes and causes major pain. It happened to my coworker who went on a low-carb/high-protein diet. He started coming to work in a nice dress shirt, a tie, and a pair of green Crocs! They were the only shoes that didn't have him sobbing with pain.
I use my protein shakes as an alternative when I don't feel like eating meat, or for convenience since I can whip one up in 30 seconds and the clean up is quick.
