I find myself excellent at conversing with people. I am a complete natural at getting girls or people to love me. One of my biggest problems, however, is being able to approach people. Last summer I tried to overcome AA for a different reason, and it led to me approaching people in a park where I literally just awkwardly said "Hi" to a guy and made a big conversation about his dog that led to his childhood. However, without the dog there, I never know what to say to people. I say "Hi" pretty consistently, but then I fall apart. I don't know how to make small talk. I've always thought it was stupid.

I was curious, would simply approaching girls and literally busting out a "I'm talking to you in an effort to overcome social anxiety." (Obviously after 'hello's and actual introductions) work as funny/cute way (not necessarily as a pickup line but to start a conversation), or would it simply be awkward?

If you want to use it as a way to pick up girls, I would try to avoid it. If you would like to use it to just overcome your AA, I think it is pretty good. Crash and Burns are a good way to overcome your AA, since you will be talking to other people. If that grows into your comfort zone, you can start focussing on routines and 'right' things to say.

You can go full on with the crush and burn strategy.

Walk up to girls and say "can you guys reject me?'
"blow me out?"


"I'm on a mission to get as much rejections as I can."

Collect 50 rejections (this might be harder than you think!)

and report back.
