...Overcoming shyness. I'd like to think I'm not really shy, but I am. In my engineering classes, I can talk with anyone because we all know each other and have the same classes. But in my history class, I'm virtually silent. Actually, almost everyone is. I have a nice HB8 that sits next to me, but have only spoken a few words with her. I don't think she has ever talked to anyone else in the class - But again, no one really talks. I know one girl in the class (UG4) that lives at my apartment complex, and talk every now and then with her. But other than that, I talk with no one. I won't approach anyone I don't know, but if I'm introduced I can hold a conversation. I love meeting new people, but will never initiate. I don't know why, I just wish it would change.

Any tips on this? I know most will say search - I did and some of it helped but not enough. Or any openers I could use on the history chick, or anyone for that matter?

you just have to say something....anything....it doesnt even matter what it is...as long as you open your mouth they should respond, and if its in a classroom setting and they dont talk to anyone, imagine what they are thinking

Yeah I guess I'll man up and just starting shooting the shit with her. Weird thing happened though. Today some random girl added me on Facebook. So I check out her facebook, no friends in common or anything. I didn't think anything of it. Tonight, I check it again and there are pictures of this girl and the HB8 - just the two of them taking some pictures as if they were bored as hell. Just random? Or should I ask her about it in class?

They are pretty... weird pictures. You know, the ones where they stick their tongues out and make weird faces. I was thinking about bringing it up and using it as a neg, saying that I saw some (short pause, while looking away) interesting pictures of her, and then going into how she must have an exciting life to have time to take random pictures like that.
