if you're a bit self conscious there's like the standard one that's a bit AFC, but just bump into her then turn around and sy sorry and start a chat.
one my mate was using all night, just go sarah! sarah!, when they're like, i'm not sarah, be like, i definitely know u though and start a chat about where u might know her from, (gives her a chance to talk about herself)
best one that i was using all of last night though was to go up to a set and be like, "you haven't seen a midget wandering around dressed as an umpa lumpa have you?"
normal response "(laugh) no, why, are you looking for a freind?"
From this point it didn't matter what i said, i was already in a conversation,
one time i was like
"no, but i think we can all agree that that would be friggin hilarious"
then i just introduced myself and moved onto dhvs

"Me and my friends are thinking this place is pretty awful everyone seems to be so boring. I said that you you girls looked pretty fun, how about proving my friends wrong" then smile
This normally works for me and even if they say no, you can reply with a neg saying oh well looks like my friends are right and how disappointed you are.
However this reaction normally never happens because at least one person in the group wants to prove they are not boring and the others follow suit. This normally works for me on a dance floor or when they are sitting on a table near to you or even standing on a table next you.
Hope this helps, and you get as much success with it as I have _________________ Give your all
