I too was out with the Jackal on Friday 7th Jan for my first proper sarge. I am very new to this stuff and I wasn't properly prepared but still The Jackal had me approaching very quickly.

The first set I was ordered to open walked briskly past the window of the bar we met in. I ran out of the bar and chased them down the street racking my brains for one of the three openers I had just been given by the Jackal. My mind was blank. I caught up with the set in a dark alley while one of them adjusted their shoe. I stood next them, smiled and said hello. The pair looked at each other bemused, said hello sarcastically and continued on down the alley.

I laughed to myself at how badly it went. I broke many written rules of the approach but I was pleased with myself.

I continued from there winging others, listening to how they do it and tried a few more approaches myself. My opener delivery got better as the night went on but I then found it difficult to transition and hold attention.

The night was an eye-opener and very useful to me. I now know that my biggest sticking points are opening, transitioning and holding attention, basically summed up in one word, TALKING.

I suspect this is going to be one of the biggest hurdles for me in my PUA journey. I have always been an introverted character and talking has never been my strong point. This is what I need to work on most.

In short the Jackal will get you approaching and challenging yourself VERY quickly.

Just like the Jackal said, “Do you want this to take 6 months or 6 years?!”.
