a good profile makes all the difference between getting replies and not getting replies. Trouble is what works for some people doesn't necessarily work for others. Congruence and Tautology (not contradicting yourself) is hugely important. Confident people project the best version of themselves, that's why bad bosses get better jobs. At the same time it's no good having a profile that creates expectations you can't live up to. Cocky funny is generally the best thing, but if it's not natural to you, it's very easy to look like you're trying too hard or contradict it with other parts of your profile.

how you communicate yourself works differently to offline. You don't have the context and power of your personality to win them over. Generally like attracts like so you need to communicate things that your target group can identify with. You should think ahead to what would you might share with a girl different from the things that everyone does. things you do by yourself and your job have lesser importance but can be used to indicate attractive qualities. you don't have to explain them.

Anything you write on your profile automatically seems more important. Unless you're looking for 1 in a million, things that are overtly obscure create reasons against interest. You need the context of your personality and passion to sell them.

You never need be overly specific about the sort of girl you're looking for because of the like attracts like effect. It is useful to state qualifiers though. These communicate that you are selective, things are important and it's proven by who you send messages to, when you message girls who like similar or the same things as you. so things like must like dogs, must like rock music, must like chilling on the beach etc

If position yourself as relatively average you're actually above average if you don't make the mistakes all the other average guys are making. this includes pictures. pictures matter a lot. they either enhance or reduced the vibe your profile and/or message. it's a cumulative thing.

I've been experimenting with my profoile. Since POF lets you see who viewed you, I've been tracking how many views I get with each of my pictures as my main image. Doing this let me find my best image of myself to use as the main one. (I only have 3 so it didn't take long). Interestingly my main image seemed to have a dramatic affect on the quality of HB that viewed me. My "worst" image, which I have since removed all together, I was getting lot of views from HB3-HB5s. With my "best" image I was getting fewer views, but from HB6-HB9s. Interesting.

Reformatting my profile in an unusual, almost poetic way got girls messaging me first but didn't seem to have an effect on response rates.

Why not use hotornot.com to determine your best image?

ok guys. what do you think of this? i am quite happy with it. any more little tricks i can put in there for people to become interested?

hey, i'm Ian :)
i attend a music college and do a digital musician course. i love music and am very passionate towards it. i mostly listen to drum and bass and have a wide range of tastes streaming from death metal to trance. a person i am seeking must have a great taste in music, but please, nothing from the charts. i play guitar and keyboard. at college i am practising claire de lune by Claude Debussy, it's quite hard but i am determined to get there :).

in the past i have been a chef, i do like to cook and changing my path from catering to music has been the right choice. at the end of the day it is all good experience and in the future i will do it again.

i love philosophy and everybody else's. the way we all think is my biggest interest in life, someone who can hold down a conversation about the ins and outs of life is a big hit for me.

too sum me up im a very creative human being, my outlook on life is bright, and i can't live without ambition.

also i put this in for the dating, any good? or should i leave it blank?

first date is the first date right? let it be free flowing and interesting. it's two people coming together and finding each other out. to me that's the best part no matter what we do.
