As for me I don't stick with one method. When it's nightgame and I approach a group I use MM then when I isolate my target I might use some routines but also be c&f and use push-pull simultanously with the comfort phase talking. It helps escalation for me. When it's a daygame I usually open directly. Nothing subtle or manipulative just alpha and goal-oriented. Online I always go c&f but I also really like personality-test routines to use. Still I'm just a rAFC I fuck up many many times. More times than I have success. But I always know it was not the method that blew it. It was me. And each time I get better.
