The latter is good on the hottest girls. Can be used on the streets. Make sure you use it when in set with tons of HBs; they will be amazed that you have the balls to go and say that to them.

I think the problem is, that no matter how funny you may make it sound, people might actually believe you.

there is a difference between:

not giving a fuck and coming off cool
and,
not giving a fuck and coming off as a clown

this reeks of clown and most chicks dont go for that, just my opinion though

well, i think if you just keep your face extremely serious with a sandwich in your hand and pause next to a set of 3 or 4 and say in a very comfortable way *do you guys like sandwiches?* then take a bite and say *oh i love them with tender meat and no salad* look at them laughing pause for few seconds and just walk away with a serious face and start eating your sandwich without looking back at them. that might work.

if you bump into them in the same place again they will definitely remeber you. however i would recommend more subtle openers i.e. you new in this town? i think i would have remembered you otherwise. or point at whatever they are eating and say, how on earth can you afford all these calories? or point an empty chair on their table asking is this chair taken? if they say no, just pull it back and sit down saying thanks guys, wussup? etc...
