Hello everybody. I had my first yearly review with my boss this morning. We both came to the conclusion that I was doing ok but that I could be doing better.

I work in tech sales and I have fallen short of my quotas, which is not all that uncommon for your first year my industry. Now I need to grow to survive and flourish. The only way that I can see myself accomplishing this task in one year is through tenacity. When I am on my game I am the best salesman in the company. I can convnince CEOs and CIOs to take meetings and spend money, but much of the time I am doing things half-ass because of fatigue or lack of motivation.

I have struggled with depression and social anxiety disorder all of my life. Sometimes I feel beat down and I cant pick up the phone. When I am standing up making calls bouncing a tennis ball up and down I am good, if not great. When I am down in the dumps I am useless.

Are there any self-help programs out there that can help me keep that "spring," in my step? I have heard that NLP is effective for rewriting your own programming. Anyone have any experience with this? Any thougths and suggestions are appreciated.

Happy Trails,

Phaz

Starting from Napoleon Hill to Deepak Chopra, there are tons and tons of authors out with their own self-help programs. A very good ebook that deals with societal embarrassment and the game as well, is Michael Pilinski's "Without Embarrassment". I have noticed that usually men with social anxiety (social awkwardness) tend to be nice guys with a low self esteem. If that is an issue, check out "No More Mr.Nice Guy" by Robert Glover. It has no quick-fire techniques but the theoretical knowledge can help you come out of a lot of troubles.
