What is a basic summary of "The Game" by Neil Strauss? Is it just his story, from a loser to a pick up artist, or is it a guide with specific examples (as to openers, negs etc.). The reason I'm asking is that I read a description of it on the Borders website, and now I'm not sure if it is what I expected it to be (a guide). Help?

Alright, well how do I buy it without looking like a wierdo at the book store? (Yes I know that a true PUA is confident in anything they do, but these confidence issues are why I'm interested in buying the book in the first place)

Dude, if you want change, you're just going to have to do it! The Game IS like the man bible, and as such should be considered sacred (LMAO)! It's full of stories written in a way which penetrates your subconscious mind. Thus enabling you to understand the characters and aspects of the game of seduction. 8)

Its a book in a store, its there to be bought and read. It is an incredibly entertaining read and it brings you into the community pretty well. All my friends who have read it call it The Bible as well (it is black leather bound with gold edged pages with gold lettering on the front and a red tassle for a bookmark, in order to look like a bible). I just bought a book on NLP from a bookstore and some people might consider it weird or creepy, especially if they read the cover and how says "Psychological skills for understanding and influencing people". These things shouldn't matter to you though, not if you intend on being a PUA, because the first step in that direction is to get over approach anxiety, which is the same self consciousness that you feel when you go to buy a book that you feel awkward about, or porn or something embaressing like that. Just get over it, or else you won't have the courage to approach women, because this is easier.

The Game by, Neil Strauss (aka. Style) is really a great read. It IS
"The Man Bible." Listen to everyone here.

Oh yeah, if you feel awkward about buying a book that will help you
with your GAME ... you should practice reading up on stuff like ...
"How To Go Out In Public Without My Blankie" ...

Don't feel ashamed of going into a book store and buying it in front
of beautiful woman, sh!t man!!! It might even start a conversation
with you and the hot cashier.

Just tell her this: "I'm only buying this book cause you look
you needed something interesting to talk to me about ... seeing how
you are the shy type. Tell me about this book." (Hand it to her)

Thought you needed a little push and a line to use. Just threw it
out there. REFINE TO WHAT YOU LIKE. It is not field tested.

Everyone pretty much summed it up

Style goes into pretty much every main methodology on game their is from his point of view. There are examples, stories, and an endearing tale of a man who was in search of self-esteem and confidence.

Style has become a guru in his own right, and this book tells you how.

I do consider it my bible and it sits on my nightstand.

I actually have TWO copies, one i bought new (on the night stand) and one I bought off Amazon for 11 bucks that i could underline, highlight and notate in :)

I used to work in a bookstore. None of us give a hot damn what you're buying from us, and we've all seen freakier purchases than "The Game". You're a blink in our day.

Also, book store employees are usually very open minded, counter culture people.

How are you going to sarge and game if you can't buy a book? It will help you develop confidence! Just go into the book store and ask for the Game to the clerk. If it is a girl just flash her a big smile. The guy that helped me was gay from perception anyway. Have a good time.

In fact go to the bookstore and ask for obscure books on sexuality just to help you develop your confidence.

You could always go practice buying porn from hot girls at gas stations and sex stores in order to overcome your approach anxiety.
