Alright guys, so bigdog225 and I decided it was a good day to sarge and wing it up at the mall. We're both pretty new to day game and the AA is much more noticable but we did have some successes today. So I'll start from the beginning:
We started off pretty slow, we met up at the mall and talked about strategy for day game. Now first, we wanted to use canned openers to open a set and switch to natural game, but this turned out to be a lot harder than we anticipated. Our first set were two latina HB's.
Approach #1
BS: "Hey, I wanted to ask, do you think guys are better liars or are girls better liars?"
HB Friend: "Guys are, of course!"
Meanwhile, HB target starts to smile, and I immediately make the switch to the C vs. U shaped smile. This makes her laugh, all the while we're holding major eye-contact and I'm getting some IOI's from the HB target (body facing me, eye contact, etc.), but it was cut short because the obstacle said they were in a rush. Oh well. We ejected and kept walking.
Approach #2
bigdog225 and I walk in to a store and start chatting up a worker there. We run the 5 Questions routine, which she didn't respond to very well (she caught on, and she was rushing us), so we eject a moment later.
Approach #3
Probably the most successful approach of the day, but the target was an employee of the store, giving us an advantage. So we walk in to check out some clothes, and the HB employee comes up:
HB: "Let me know if you need any help!"
BS: "Actually, yeah, we're trying to get my friend some new clothes here, any suggestions?"
HB: "Blah blah blah clothes sale blah"
So HB is walking BD around for a bit and comes back to my area. I decide to transition the convo from work to something else.
BS: "So we just moved here to go to college, do you know of any cool places to chill around here?"
HB mentions something (forgot lol) and talks about how she's a senior at the University.
BS: "Oh cool! What are you studying?"
HB mentions some field like human interaction.
BS: "Okay, so I have a question, how do you start from knowing somebody as a stranger to being a person they can trust?" (or some bullshit like that)
HB: "Well, you'd probably meet up somewhere comfortable, in a relaxed setting and get to know each other."
Perfect. I use this opportunity to invite her out sometime.
BS: "So we're new, would you mind showing us around sometime, in a comfortable, relaxed setting?"
HB smiles and responds: "Possibly"
Then I make up some bullshit excuse about my phone and use BD's phone and tell her to her number in there. Obviously nothing big, but for a couple of newbies it was just another successful approach.
Approach #4 & 5
From here on out, BD opened while I stood back as a wing in case he needed to eject. He can probably elaborate a bit more on these ones.
Conclusion:
Day game was a bit more intimidating than I imagined. AA creeps up on you and you have to use the three-second rule often, or you'll come up with excuses. It became a lot easier as we made more approaches though. I found canned openers were a bit hard to use because the transition is rough. Meanwhile, when we used natural game, I found that the target was not as weirded out. And of course, body language was huge today. Things as simple as keeping eye-contacting, smiling (but not laughing), and posture made a big difference in a target's willingness to talk to us.
Overall, we didn't expect any huge progress, but we did manage a (cheap
) number close. And the whole point was to just approach and get over the AA we experienced.
