Are there any patterns or tips that will anchor good emotions with certain things I want to do, like exercise? I'm talking to the point of obsession or extreme enjoyment.

Look at this way, you already took the first step by acknowledging your desire to change, right? Even going as far as to reach for guidance. Most like you have something that you think of that motivates this change. Perhaps keeping this in mind thoughout your day will help take the appropriate action. I really recommend checking out Tony Robbins. Even that youtube video of his seminar is phenomenal.
