Hi I'm new to this forum as a poster but not a follower. I've been reading up on here, and have a question regarding PlentyOfFish, which I joined this summer as I had some free time to spend in a town with no good bars (my usual sarging area).

I think my profile is fine, as is my profile picture, which is all well and good, but in 3 weeks I have had only 5 profile views (a couple of them absolute whales too). I'm sure that if chicks just look at my profile they will be interested, but how do I actually get them to look in the first place?
I'm not exactly massively active on the website, I don't browse all night, but expected a bit more than what I have got.

You guys got any ideas? Should I be opening more and expect them to look after?

Oh, one other thing: I smoke the weed. And there is subtle references to that in my profile. Do you think this puts everyone right off? I could pretend I don't.

The only way to really increase your views is to have an interesting main picture. Being tall will also increase your views as well. By that I mean 6"+. Tho with POF you have the ability to not let people know you view their profile, so its possible you had more views than what POF is showing you as it only shows you people who did not turn on that option.
Yes. Girls on online dating sites for the most part expect guys to open them much like in real life.
There is a field on POF to let people know you do drugs. As far it being a turn off it can certainly be one.

Yes, my profile says I do drugs "socially". I just don't want people thinking I do chemicals and such so I probably will remove that.

As for the eye catching thumbnail, PoF is terrible at scaling so you can't really make mine out too well. I will try scaling in Photoshop, see if that works any better.

I will try some openers tonight. I got a HB8 to test on.

An interesting title helps, too. I put up a rather comical title and get lots of views, and even some messages telling me how they lol'd at it. Anyway, views are only good if they're sending messages afterward.

If you fudge on height it could lead to a major disappointment, on her part, once you get a date.

edit: i'd keep the 420 on the down-low.... where I live (a very conservative state) 80% of HB 8 and higher have the no contact for drugs checked. It may vary where you live, but still.... It's not like you need to bring the hooka on a date.

I am not sure if adding another inch will really help you with your height. Your basically within the height range girls generally prefer guys in which is from 5'11" to 6'3".
I would keep it because hiding it will only hurt you in the long run. Its far better to be honest about it upfront then to let the girl learn about it later. Such things like doing drugs tend to be better known upfront than latter down the road.
What I did was took a picture of me and turned it into an outline of me. It works wonders really.

Add an inch or two won't hurt. Adding three or more will as then a girl will be able to tell that you are lying when she meets you in person. I am not sure if you know this, but most guys lie about their height anyway on online dating sites by at least 2 inches.

I never knew that, but know most stats fudge the true height/weight of pro athletes.

Wow dude! I followed your advice and added an extra inch to make 6' and removed the drugs tag and my profile views have tripled already!

I actually ended up going out the other night (it WAS Saturday!), so will have a lot to do at work tomorrow.

It seems the chicks who have viewed my profile since my changes are of a higher standard in appearance. I guess this is because they are less desperate so have stricter choices.

It doesn't matter if your 5'5". You can say your 5'6" without any problem. Most girls are not going to be able to tell your an inch shorter than what you say you are.

You should leave you do drugs socially, as no girl is going to like that you lied in your profile about that.
The hotter the girl on a dating site the more messages she is bound to get from guys in turn more guys to pick from and a higher standard she can have.

when people are searching the 3 things they see are picture, headline and the top 2 or 3 lines of your profile.

until recently I was barely getting any profile views either. hit upon a better profile and picture and doing much better now with profile views. even got an unsolicited message the other day.

I believe its the top 2/3 lines of the profile that makes all the difference. if you search for guys the majority of those top lines are pretty lame and the "I'm.....{a list of stuff} type things.

even writing a (relevant) joke and arranging for the punchline to be cut off would probably be better.

Im 5'9 3/4 can I pull off 6'

Maybe I'll just go for 5'11, but I rock a private profile anyway
