You see a HB standing around while she is on her Blackberry and you walk up and make it look like you are doing something (checking out something in the isle she is in at the market) take a double take and say:


You: oh, you are one of THOSE people…*smile and make eye contact*

Her: What?/Excuse me?

You: one of those people that are glued to their Crackberry/iPhone *point to her phone*. A friend of mine is driving me nuts with her constantly raving over the blackberry she just bought and is trying to convince me to buy one but I don’t understand what’s so good about it.

Her: well it does blah blah blah



If anyone feels up to the challenge, I’d like to have a few people field test this opener and let me know how it went over with the HB. Feel free to tell me what’s wrong with this opener and even change it a bit to make it better. Seriously guys, I don’t know about you but there are a lot of HB’s with Blackberry’s in my area so I feel that this has potential to be a good opener

Dont like the "oh your one of those people" thing.. Its too general shes gonna be like WTF is he talking about, n u might look weird.

i think it would work on someone you had more rapport with though, co-worker.. friend.. just not on a stranger...

yeah i'm definitely going to agree. or even better, it can work on a friend/co-worker/w.e that you have been having trouble getting to open to you and recently GOT a blackberry. you could be like "when did you become one of those people".

but hey i'm not going to knock it till it's been tried.

I have to agree with OP and disagree with two posters who replied. Its very good and its almost natural even. I know that because I could do that to anyone as a natural conversation, not trying to pick up.
One of the best openers posted this week so far.
Though personally I would skip the first statement and go directly to the second "so you are one of those people glued to their crackberry... ". Unless I want to fool a bit more (to get that face and "eh what people?" reaction out of her)
