Ok, so i went out with a friend 2 days ago to start trying to give this Gaming thing a go and ended up in the early evening at a quiet bar.

2 hot girls sit about 7 metres away, chatting to eachother.

I walk over and say:

Me: "Don't you think it might be cruel to keep those big fish in that tiny tank right there?"

Girl 1: "Which fish?" *i point* "oh yeah! Hadn't seen them."

Me: "Especially when the music gets loud later, i'm sure its kinda cruel"

At this point i felt ok, they seemed to brighten up a bit. One was shyer, the other i could tell had more or a bitch vibe and was the leader of the two.

Girl 1 (the leader girl): "I hadn't even thought about it. Not sure i care"

Me "You don't care? Why you're cruel."

Girl 2 giggles a little, but i feel the need to qualify myself to the leader girl who is really starting to cool right off.
As a result i clam up for a second and feel akward.

Girl 1 "If you care so much, maybe you should go over there and save them.."

Me: I just thought shit, she is getting rid of me. Im sure there's stuff i can do to fix this but what? Girl 2 could be a good one!

But i mumbled and left.

So tell me what could i have said or done to defuse the bitchier girl and get the vibe back?

Sounds like more of a test than trying to get rid of you or a retaliation to your neg.
When you say a neg you move on with what you're saying to the rest of the group. Don't give her a chance to think up a comeback or be ready for one if it comes.

She may have been testing you to see if you were just some other guy trying to pick her up by talking to her or not. Focusing more attention on the other girl would've helped but keep her entertained as well. I would've negged her again or said something witty and funny then move on to a dhv immediately.

Fox: "I would but my superhero costume is at the dry cleaners You know something got me thinking of this. Have you ever had a pet that just knew what you were thinking? (most people do) It's kinda like they can read their minds. Here let me try something with you guys really quick. Do you believe in ESP?"

Pretty much just let it flow. Choose whatever you want and go with it. If she's still a bitch after you DHV with her friend feel free to eject or neg her again with something like:
"Is she always like this? How do you go anywhere with her?" etc etc
If she continues to be a bitch eject. I like to break her autopilot first though. Basically say what she's thinking. If you get it right she'll show it. If not eject anyway.

saying she is "cruel" very very bad answer you are saying she doesnt care too much about others also you should have asked to her friends "what do you think about it?" you say it yourself she was shyer she might wanted to join to the conversation but had no invitation

Cheers guys, those are some useful answers. I think after last night (i was out again) i'm realising i'm anxious about the follow up so kinda fluff it a bit and lose interest. I think having 2 or 3 basic directions in mind and kinda steering it that way is the best idea.
