Keep in mind that I am and rAFC and proud of it. Proud of my initiative that is.
This is the first long conversation I have had with a girl in awhile. I am kind of going the "fake it until you make it" route.
So I was in my Computer Science Class. We had a lab due and since my friend and I are both pretty proficient at programming we finished first. So it is a sunny day in this here Washington, so I decided to sit down outside under a tree and read my magazine.
I must have come across as a total AFC, stuttering clutz. During the conversation I had some Kino (better than none I suppose) light on the arm. The first part is almost too embarrassing to write but if I have the courage to beat my anxieties I have the courage to write this. After this I am going to the mall to KILL any one-itist I may have gained during this period. So in a nutshell here is what happened:
(She is walking towards me, I'm pretty good at utilizing the 3 second rule at this point. I saw her coming. Let us call her HB NewProgrammer)
M: How did the test go?
nP: (Looks confused, I might have misread her though, maybe she didn't hear me.)
M: (Stood up to approach) Wait do I know you?
nP: Yeah aren't you the guy in my class.
M: Yeah that is what I thought.
nP and M: We sort of semi-laughed about that.)
M: I told her I was going to the Library.
nP: I am going to (For the love of God LISTEN Chris).
M: It must be kind of hard since you have not done much programming.
nP: Yeah, you guys all seem to know... blah blah blah.
M: (Awkward Silence, I braved it out!)
(I'm acting lost as if I do not know where the library is, honestly I was too involved in the conversation to think about it.

)
nP: (She says something I give some kind of cursory answer)
M: (I end up telling her that my brother is going to take me hiking (true))
nP: She said I love hiking.
M: Cool know any places around here?
nP: No, I am from Vancouver BC. (I thought she said Washington DC)
M: Washington DC?
nP: No, washington DC!
M: Right. (Didn't help that we did not often face each other.) You know I was thinking since you are new to programming that we ought to meet up sometime.
nP: She suggest groups in class.
M: (Something or other)
About this point I am heading towards the library)
M: See ya.
(She/I awkwardly go around a tree and meet again.)
nP: (I accuse her of following me (jokingly I hope))
Anyway that is the sum of the interaction I suppose as best I recall. Constructive Criticism? What I did good?
Best,
ChrisyRich
