NOTE: This is somewhat long, but I try to break it up into manageable parts, with each paragraph being its own encounter. I include as much detail as possible without turning this into a ridiculous narrative. I just want to put as much out there as possible to get the best feedback I can. Let me know what you think (of the sarges and the FR).
Okay, so, I go into work (Outback Steakhouse, NYC) and there's this new girl there, a really freaking tall HB7. So I start chatting with her right off the bat, just BS-ing, getting to know the newbie and all. After two or three minutes of fluff talk I start looking over her person for decent conversation/hook material. Lo and behold I see a Toy Story 3 movie ticket. I ask her about it and she says that she didn't go, it was a customer's; however, she really does want to see the film.
Then the lunch rush hits. I am run off my feet for two hours straight. As things settle down I start fishing for info, like BF details, plans after work, in the next few days, etc. After I change and go to head out I catch her at the bar and say, "Listen, I gotta go meet up with some one," I check my watch, "In about twenty minutes, but I'll be done around the time you get off, we should go catch Toy Story." (Yeah, yeah, I know movies, especially Toy Story, are not the best PU locales, but it's was a very convenient starting point). She says that it's a great idea and gives me her number (again, without me prompting!).
I head to Union Square. I wander around Barnes and Noble, see a few sets I should have approached, but didn't (goddamn me, sometimes!). Then I wander the streets a bit, hit up my friend to join my in the City and go into The Thirsty Scholar, a bar, to grab a drink while I wait for him to make his way there from the suburbs.
I sit at the bar when suddenly I hear, "Oh my god! Hey!" I turn to my left and see two beautiful girls sitting there. An HB9 to my direct left, and an HB7 in the seat next to her. HB7 happens to be an old college classmate. We start talking as I sip at my Stella, but my DHV story about travelling gets very quickly turned into an advice exchange between the 3 of us. I try to embed plans (a whole "assuming report" thing I'm working on), but they exit with no numbers exchanged. During the course of the conversation I had an extraordinarily difficult time reading body language (which is something I'm working on A LOT). The HB9 next to me seemed interested in me, in the way she turned to me and held eye contact, but she kept her left arm on her drink at the bar, creating a sort of barrier between us. Perhaps I'm overthinking. I worked on my own body language, leaning back, but I had my body far too open to them (my core was directed to the left). On top of that I couldn't pull the convo away from the travel talk no matter how hard I tried. They were SO stuck on it! I didn't know how to push our discourse in a direction that would lead to them wanting to meet up again. I don't know if I included enough details here, but I'd appreciate some advice (questions welcome).
After they left I started to write in my notebook (no girls present, and I'm still waiting for my friend). I also spent time txting the new girl at work:
HER: Hey Talon! Its HB7..im on my way home now cuz i took food w/ me i wanted to refrigerate it lol maybe we could catch toy story another time i still wanna go
ME: Sounds good. When're you working the next couple of days?
HER: Im on fer tom nite, fri morn, n sat nite. sunday I have off
ME: Well I guess we're going to the movies Friday afternoon then!
HER: Omg i have plans on fri. I'm sorry! Do you work sunday??
ME: Hmmm. How'd'ya feel about trying to switch your sat night shift for lunch? Possilbe?
HER: Dude i already released the shift cuz i was gonna try to go to my cuz's grad party but no1 picked it up...so i doubt id be able to switch =/
ME: Omg! Now you're just trying to be difficult

. Alright, alraight, I'll see what's possible with Mon or Sun when I get home. But you owe me a drink for the trouble
HER: I don't try...I just am. Lol we'll make it happen jus have patience young grasshopper
ME: Lol, I try to, but I'm concerned someone will spoil the film in the meantime. *looks around, paranoid* They could tell me the plot right now if I'm not careful!
HER: Lamoo well be careful get urself some earplugs n ull be good!
ME: Hey, this is serious stuff! I'm investing in a pair of those Bose sound deleting headphones. No adventure of Woody or Buzz shall enter my world until those 3-D glasses are perched oh so carefully upon the brisge of my nose! Okay, perhaps I exaggerate
HER: Hahaa ur funny. And i have a feelin ur not exaggerating. Lol
I let the convo die there.
I finish my beer, ask the bartender to pur another while I run to the bathroom. When I return there's 5 cute blonde girls encircling my seat! I go over and touch one on the arm and say, "Hey, you're all over my seat." She looks, laughs, and apologizes. I say something along the lines of, "Jeez, y'know that's not cool!" I sit down and pick up my pen and notebook. A girl to my right asks if I'm a writer and I respond in the affirmative. Ask ask if she is, and then she starts talking about how she's a journalism major from Texas, but she's in the city interning in retail or something. I have NO clue how to hook this girl before she gets her drink and disappears.
And then she is pulled away by her friends to go to a different part of the bar with more chairs (I probably should have engaged the whole group, right?). My friend arrives. We have a drink, and as the Texas girls are leaving, the one I was talking to breaks away from her group to come over and wish me luck with the novel I'm writing (how could I have redeemed myself there??).
My friend and I head to St. Marks and go to a karaoke bar, where there is not much of a crowd. A 30s guy and girl couple and two single, 20s girls. So I target the girls. But I'm out of state by now. So I order a song to sing to get me in the mood. I sing "Fly Me to the Moon," and dance and on the next song I start ballroom dancing with the really hot girl to the rock song. Then a group of girls and guys arrives in an elevator I hadn't even known was there. I move away from teh girl I was dancing with and start on the next one. This girl, an HB 9, and I start dancing, a mix of ballroom and grind, until her friends want to smoke. I've got a lighter, and they need one, so we go to the balcony. Outside we chat, I'm introduced to the group and we get invited up to the top floor for a private party.
Upstairs it is PUMPIN! (hehe, never used that expression before) Had an amazing... 5 minutes, before some guy who ran the venue came in and was causing trouble. We left, not wanting to deal with it.
I then got a txt from a girl who gave me her number (a customer who left it on the bill on Friday, and whom I hung out with very briefly on Monday) txted me to see a show on Thursday.
So now I'm trying to free up my tomorrow night and my Sunday night.
Bleh. I'm hoping to get a good group together to sarge on Friday, if anyones in the City and wants to join.
Let me know your thoughts on this FR, please.
