How much is story telling important?

I see lots of methods use story telling as a tool.

How much do you guys use it? How much is it important?

Pretty good question.

I wondered this myself and to be honest, I only tell stories when I feel it could be useful. I don't use it very often because I feel like its only used to demonstrate your social status or wealth. If you demonstrate too much wealth or social status, you can seem like a tool as well.

I feel like its too built up because you can tell a girl about your attractive qualities without stories if you know what I mean.
