I have now realized my inability to get women in the past. I have ALWAYS been the AFC and actually thought it would eventually pay off, and I notice now that I've been terrible at picking up attraction signs from women and acting on them.
I would like to start by reading 1-2 of the books to help me on my way to be a PUA. I don't want to spend too much money, at least not to start, so I'm really looking for suggestions from the pros here on what the best resources are for me. If it helps, other than the stuff I said about myself at the beginning I also almost always avoid approaching women. The only times I've gotten into conversations with women was through a friend or when one approached me. In the actual phase of conversation, however, I think I do *ok* at being somewhat interesting and talking well and articulately. Of course... I lack the knowledge to go from regular conversation to attraction to kiss/number-closing.
So, I would really appreciate any possible resources (and links to them if possible) I could try out to help me get started and fix my weak points. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I think you should start by going back and reading those books....if you've read a few books (The Game...etc)...you should surely have enough knowledge to go and approach sets...
Further, I suggest that you think of it this way: A woman can get laid whenever she wants...its a fact of nature...women have an innate power over men..Hence, the only way to convert this innateness is to not be typical or give the woman what she would normally expect...E.X. instead of saying....wow what lovely dress you have....you would say, "you know, your dress is really cute but i think it would look better if you wore your hair down"...smile anddd...touch her hair as you utter those words..try it
Lastly, books amongst books will not do much for you....i like to think that inner game is what powers you through pick-up....SURE...you need to have foundations and structure (or else your scaffolding will collapse)..but i believe that unless you practice and get over that initial fear of rejection...you're hopeless.
In summary, Get out there....run some openers...*don't use opinion openers.....*...and go from there...you will see that after a while you will without a doubt come back to this post and tell me about your success..
Cheers,
Alfie

Btw, I have not read any of those books which is why I was asking for suggestions on what the best ones are. And yea, I'm just now starting to see the difference between the AFC and the PUA, and how all this time I was an AFC.
I don't think a total lack of confidence is my problem. I mean, I dress well, I'm tall and very built, I'm no Brad Pitt but I don't really have strong insecurities about the way I look or talk. I think I lack social competence with women more than confidence. However, often times my lack of competence does ruin my confidence as well. For example, if I have no idea how to open a woman, I'm not gonna try with something completely random. I like to have something concrete prepared before I go in.
Then, other than approaching and opening, I could also use some knowledge and attraction and seduction, knowing when and how to kino escalate and make the target feel comfortable with me. That is why I'm interested in reading at least 1-2 of these 'how to talk to women' manuals.
