I disagree, your comparisson is way off. These status updates merely are random thoughts you just post on your personal page for others to see if they like.

The internet is far from a replacement of the real world, duh. But it is a handy tool with different kinds of things that are acceptable. DHV DLV etc: depends a bit on what you want to show with your status.

Attention seekers = people who will post on a LOT Of pages with the purpose of getting attention. Updating your status that gives some people a giggle is just "sharing the fun with your friends" and far from attention seeking.

I'd say stop being negative and go try some, check the results. If people react with: "omg you're an attentionseeker" you are right. If they reply positively and you actually start conversations from them and even nr/meet-close... then why is it bad?

Don't get me wrong, I see what you mean and I respect that. I just have a different opinion. =)

I also totally disagree when you have like 20-40 people likening and or commenting on your status' how does that make you look like you need attention? you are simply posting and they are commenting if anything it does show higher value because it shows that you have a lot of friends who pay attention to you and your status'.
