You are right in one thing, confidence is the deciding factor, and it overrules everything else. However, the Mystery Method is not just a means to an end, nor some simple cop-out for seduction. It is a compilation of life laws translated in a fashion that makes it easier for those who cannot comprehend to understand how game works.

Agreed.... I think we were are skeptical at first, until we walk into a group using just basic PUA techniques and notice the strange difference we could not otherwise explain.

I like your creativity bull.... but I'm personally going to do my best to pretend this show never existed. If I use something like the Cube or some other personality test and get busted, I think it would be more effective to plea ignorance, and have a cover story about how these methods are hundreds of years old and how lame it is that anyone would try to use it to pick up chicks.

The point I'm trying to get across is: Canned openers, especially those shown on the show, are becoming dead.

More important, is the impromptu skills we develop, so that we wont rely on what has been shown to us.

...I'm still pissed at Show's ignorance though. Maybe it's because I'm drunk right now. Maybe it's because, somewhere, in my sober part of mind, the ignorance of his post incensed me. Probably that.

Alright guys, i'm in England and i've never seen any program on PUA though there are articles in magazines occasionally.

I think this poses a big challenge to us on the field, but like anything else, the answer is simple; we have to adapt. We've done it for millions of years.

VH1 can't continue with that program forever. A few years maybe, but if you were a girl watching that, wouldn't you feel previlidged for a PUA to come up to you? one that looks the part? Though for the girl, they'd want to reject you so it boosts their confidence; they rejected a Pick-Up Artist.

So instead of using canned openers, we must start using more situational openers. The challenge to us now, is to create our own material. Find our own personality tests.

And really.... I wouldn't even say that ALL "canned openers" are totally dead. I am a strong sympathizer with Mystery's little motto to the AFCs, fake it til you make it. But what I think this is helping us realize isn't that all canned material should be disregarded (although the veteran PUA has something wrong if they continuously rely on them), but rather the specific weaknesses of our heavily used ones.

For instance..... "Hey ladies, I need your opinion on something." Yeah, stick the fork in that one. It's overused, and now that Mystery has put it all over television, we can realize just how much of a pick-up line it actually sounds like. But, the Cube, on the other hand.... I still think this is a good routine. Should you rely on the Cube to get into a girl's pants.... of course not, nor any other "routine" for that matter. But we forget that the Cube didn't start out as a pickup ploy. It's an actual psychoanalytical exercise used long before the PUA community, and I see no reason to discard it. It appeals to women due to their fascination with psychology, it is a good DHV, its entertaining, and it can lead into deeper, more emotional conversation. But the reason this shouldn't be discarded is that, at the core, this really isn't a pickup line.

When you watch the show, and you hear them ask a woman's opinion, it sounds like a pickup line. But when they walk up and say "Hi" .... there's nothing that sounds insincere about that. The weakness isn't with using something for too long, or even it being prepared.... some things just inherently sound like pick-up lines. And I don't think the Cube, for instance, is one of these.

All of the greatest speakers prepare their speeches, and all great salemen have a prepared pitch.... planning beforehand shouldn't be totally abandoned. Relying on what you've prepared without the need to think on your feet should be. I hear some guys go on angry rants about hating people that prepare material. But there's nothing wrong with being prepared. Use that stuff, its okay. Use psychology games (unless its been on VH1), its okay. Just don't rely on these things to the point that after it's said and done, and after you as the saleman have finished your pitch, you can't stay after for a little Q&A.... because that's when the purchase happens.

ACTUALLY, i've read his material, front to back, most likely more times than you have. I've seen all his DVDs and have watched them QUITE a few times.
