Criticism Always Appreciated.

It was a rainy Monday night. We started at K's China and found nothing, and we bounced to the bars. Still nothing. We ended up finding a few sets in random places. Needless to say, Boulder was anything but target rich tonight. Wing was Crowne (Zach).

Set 1
Street corner, two set, hoodies on, lookin cold. Kiss opener, transition to my international routine. Opener hooks. I fail to establish a target or throw out any real negs.

Crush: So is this corner your favorite bar?
HB: Actually, we're waiting for a ride.
Crush: ... [dick in hand, no response ready, priceless look of an idiot]
HB: Hey there he is, nice to meet you.

And then they made like some titties and bounced.

Analysis: I should have plowed a little more, and kept my material shorter. I should have recognized I had a small time frame and worked accordingly. I should have at least tried to bounce the HBs (and ride) somewhere nearby. Lastly, I should have a C&F reponse ready for the "ride" comment.

Set 2
A seated two set at The Sink, HB7.5 and HB 8. I am determined to pick a target this time so I haphazardly pick the 7.5, and by some hand of God she's my type. Multilingual, community oriented, loves teaching. Sick.

Kiss opener, transition to international material (sit down during transition), wing sits too. We get going, I'm just shooting off small DHV stories, talking about international kids. We divide up the set and I begin working kino; I'm shocked at how well she responds. I DHV a little more, wing and I banter, and we keep going. Some girl code is going on beside us and I tease them about it. I neg target lightly about being a Republican (I wanted to chop her head off).

Obstacle asks my name and I give my C&F answer; "They call me JiggyFly 5000. It's written on my greeeels in platinum, but I left them in my Escalade with the spinning rims." They laugh and want to come up with Black names too, but clearly don't know any Black people (*big sigh*). I help and they assume the names "Loquisha" and "Tahara." I role play a little like we're seated in the VIB of the club, and I put my arm around target.

I make the A3 transition cautiously, we talk about her love of Latin America, why she's in Boulder, and why she loves teaching. We transition to why she's getting out of Boulder, where we've traveled to, and where we want to go. I false disqual her telling her she lives too far away. Finally, Big A3 question; "what do you want to be when you grow up, and don't say princess." She's eager to jump through it. I then proceed with the worst number close since 1065 AD.

Crush: So are you in Boulder much [she lives in the springs]? Or do you never come down here?
HB: Something like that...
Crush: How about Denver...
HB: Same really.
Crush: Well if you met an interesting guy down here, would you give him your number to get coffee sometime?
HB: Um, sure. [translation; it will be easier to blow you off on the phone]

I number close, finish up with some more A3, which goes well. Time to bounce the set. I suggest a hookah bar. Target is down, but Obstacle is not a smoker. Wing thinks I'm ejecting, and ejects. I follow.

Analysis: I don't believe there's a Nobel Prize for worst number close of all time, but if there is, nominate me. I should have just said I have friends stationed at Fountain Fort Carson (near by), and time bridged it with latin american topics (my dad's photos of the Nicaraguan revolution, for example). I also should have made clear to wing what was going on. I also think I DHV'd too hard.

On a final note, I had a good time tonight. There were a bunch of smaller interactions (openers?) that I didn't pursue but were fun. Second set felt great, I went all the way into A3. I also met a bouncer (who's family owns the Attic) and we exchanged numbers. I'm gonna help him study for his LSATs (which I pwn'd), and he's gonna provide me a great DHV story / opportunity.

Lastly, I said "excuse me" before opening both of these sets. Yea yea Cactus I know.

I think the first set attempted was a bust anyhow bro to many variables, 2 minutes is running the lvls quick. The second set sounded great from what you posted however I will agree the # close was lacking. You were able to achieve a bounce but never got to it but still got her to agree. Tell your wing that before you decide to exit talk to eachother first. Remember that once a set is opened you can come back to it so when your anticipating an exit just say you two are headed to the bar or something. I'm not sure how much DHV you threw in there but it sounds like it wasn't to much since you accomplished the # close and half a bounce I guess. All in all I'd say you did great however I would try and come up some tailored openers the ones used on the show are out in the open and run the risk of making a fool of yourself if they recognize it. Check the boards here they are full of them. I read through a bunch of them for examples and either altered them to fit me or just used them to brainstorm some of my own.

Hey, thanks. Yea the first set was going to be difficult anyway. The second set was played well, next time I'll number close it better. It was good experience. Wing and I have figured out some code for getting this bounce thing down, I'm sure it's gonna work a lot better next time.

Was "kiss" opener really used on the show? I know it's a Niel Strauss line but was it really on VH1? No one has told me that.

I know, for example, the Jealous GF and the Masturbation-show routines are dead on arrival

The kiss one I was thinking of was

PUA:"So a girl has a boyfriend and kisses another dude is that cheating?"
Target: "Of course"
PUA: "Okay what about if the girl kisses another girl is that still cheating?"

The did use that one in the show a couple times though I'm not they ever showed the whole routine.

Ahhhh shit. I don't want to get blown out on that, maybe I need a new opener.

I would have put a false time constraint for the first set because I feel much stronger if they leave. If you put a time constraint, you can always say you have to go to and leave them.
