Hey, so I negged this girl about her hair on the first message which I doubt was a good move. She wrote back shortly with this:

HB:I have to say that this is a question I get a lot....but it still is pretty rude. I do not dye my hair. My question to you is...when was the last time you asked a brunette if they dyed their hair?

Stealth:Your hair still looks good. It's just a question, not to be rude or anything.

Any pointers on how to respond better or do you think I handled it correctly? What would you have done?

Don't use such powerful negs online, first of all.

Second, I'm not exactly sure how you can fix this... she can't see you, you're just text + a picture so you don't have any facial expressions or body language to fall back on.

If you've already replied to her since then, just say it wasn't with any malicious intent, and try something more genuine. You've kinda got to rebuild a bit, and I'm not really sure how you can DHV at this point.

I think your opening was fine because it elicited a response. The problem is that every newbie PUA has asked her the same thing. You weren't original. I think a good response would have been to play it off like "Yeah, you got me there. Ask me a rude question to make us even." It's an interesting request and she might go for it since it looks like she wants to talk.

Backpedaling is the wrong answer and makes you look inconsistent. The best response of all probably would have been to totally pretend the exchange never happened and try to engage her again by asking her something no-one's asked her before. "If money wasn't an object and you were with a guy you're crazy about, what would you want to do together, RIGHT NOW?"

Anyway, I doubt it's a shit test. I get totally pissed when people ask if I fucking know Kung-Fu, but wouldn't mind if just one person/racist had the originality to ask if I liked chow mein instead. Raaagh! It was nice that you sort of apologized, but you're not going to hear from her again.
