Fate maybe caused me to read this - I think you made the same mistake I've been currently dealing with - playing it TOO cool when she puts herself out there at a critical point. If they go out on a limb to convey interest, eg. say something "can we meet up again soon??" and you don't give it the "right" level of positive response it deserves, you're fucked.

Eg. that statement deserves a "Yeah that was fun, we'll do it again soon!" at the very least, but you say something like "Yeah maybe, I'm a bit busy at the moment" that hurts so bad that she feels stupid for putting herself out there and finds any reason to suddenly cut you out. And if you try to "get her back" at that point, boy you're REALLY fucked.

Positive actions should always be rewarded, just at different levels depending on how positive they were and the context. I think there is of course a kind of positive action that's too positive - a girl is throwing herself on you physically - you would look a little desperate to respond too positively to that - and she wouldn't expect you to either, she needs qualifying a bit, but still a little bit of positive reward. However that's completely different.

She still keeps messaging me and would without a doubt want to meet up again but I've come to far without isolating (tried to but she didn't bite) and will probably now be friend zoned. So much better to just abort now rather than drag it out.

edit: Ok found out she is now an escort so probably best I didn't isolate :S I'm pretty damn sure sex is now just a job for her anyway but could be wrong

Ok further update on this. Won't even give me her mobile number insists on only being msn buddys. We don't really catch up at all anymore.

So stood my ground but went afc when I did it. basically told her she can't be much of a friend if she won't even give me her cellphone number. Then told her i'm not coming onto msn (as shes the only one that I talk to on there anyway).

Advice on how this should have been handled?

I am exactly in this situation but a step or 2 further on. I dated this girl pretty seriously for about a year and a half.
