Ok so I've been running some tests to see how well I can keep a positive frame. I chose my ex for this as she is one of the most negative people I know and I also knew there was still a few negative emotions around her. I was doing pretty well for a while but slowly her negative frame took over my positive frame.

So what tips and tricks do you guys have for keeping a positive frame and not letting anyones reactions affect your frame?

You have to avoid negative people. I'm sorry, but it is the only way. Don't tell them, and don't try to change them. Maybe if you are luckly with time they will discover the power of positive on their own. If not, just stay away.

I think jim rohn said it:

You can talk with someone for 2 minutes, but not for 20 minutes.
you can talk with them for 20 minutes, but not for 2 hours
You can talk with them for 2 hours, but not 2 days. Avoid negative people.

There is no chance in the world that you are going to stay positive arround negative people. Thats like saying How can I that breezing cool feeling arround a burning fire!

you cant..

Avoid them, and instead surround yourself with positive people. Find them, look for them and really copy their thinking.

I totally agree with the others, AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE!

However you get negative people you cannot avoid (e.g family, parents, siblings etc) it would be harsh to turn round and say, "Look mum I love you and all that but.. ive realised your just too damn negative for my lifestyle, yeh well nice knowing you.. goodbye!"

The best advice I can give you for these unavoidable negative people is to get them at their best. For example my Dad can be a moaning pain in the arse but after a workout or a round of golf he is usually pretty happy, so I choose to talk to him around this time rather than straight after work when he is really pissed off.

But yeh generally speaking avoid all negative people or they will dominate you and crush all of your positivity.

THANKS GUYS!

Starting to agree with you guys that its almost not possible to keep a positive frame around constantly negative people. I though my positive frame was pretty strong but I can feel it slowing breaking down and her negativity and neediness affecting me.

Just avoid negative people. These people are energy vampires. Just avoid them, you have nothing much to lose. Trust me.
