I've been in a funk recently. It started when I had some girls blow me off (ones that I thought were sure things). Then I started to have to travel for work...and it's true what they say, "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy".

But I still kept up with the community when I can. Mostly reading blogs and checking out podcasts. Well one of the main points of one recently was success doesn't matter and failure doesn't matter either.

It's funny because I started off the night crashing and burning. Tried to grab a girl on the way to the bathroom..and she either didn't hear me or was having none of it. The next girl I opened wasn't really interested either. These two approaches were in front of my friends and they are the type of friends we all have. Some say go for it...some make fun of you for trying (and laugh even harder when you fail). Either way I knew the venue (a concert) wasn't gonna work.

Luckily my friend had different ideas and we were soon off to another bar. We then go to this hipster bar which is slowly becoming a favorite of mine (not to loud and not to crowded but enough excitement to make it fun). After seeing two girls at the bar - one of them goes to the bathroom and I open her.

"So I noticed you were wearing glasses earlier..." -

We banter a while and it is actually really good conversation. I'm quick on my feet telling stories and she is responding well. She says she is going to the bar next door for a friends bday and I tell her nice meeting her and she introduces herself. I then tell her it's my friends bday and on her way out her friends make a big scene for the bday boy.

No number close (she was an hb6) but that wasn't the point. I needed something to remind myself that a - failed sets are ok because not every set will hook (1/3 isn't bad from everything I've been listening too).

Failure is not only an option...it's the only option.

But with failure also comes success.

There is no such thing as failure. Only opportunity.

Q.
