How cool were you? If you were too cool, as if not defending yourself, then the group saw weakness and tested you. You then obviously failed.
I had this guy at the beach try to do the same to me and a buddy of mine. he was calling me gay. I said "oh yeah I'm super gay, i made out with three guys already. In fact you look pretty cute. The group laughed. My buddy got a little pissed at he kept on him, but commented on how he couldnt "get" to me. The group then kept teasing my buddy and not me. See? Thats cool, but defending yourself. You make the current alpha look stupid, now YOURE the alpha.
