Me and my friends just started learning how to pick up girls...the only opener thtat i really use is..."i need help finding a gift for my girlfriend" this has worked great except for the fact they like my friends more cause they think i have a girlfriend...i need help finding a way to tell them that i am really single without them getting mad at me for lieing.

try sayin i want to buy a present for my mom, (they'll see it as sweet) and as they tell u suggestions make sure u get a hook in it e.g. oh shit where did u tht necklace/ bracelet/ earing from its so nice (say tht to the girl ur not tryin to pickup on)
as u get the attention of the group, do a palm reading (the rules of the game by neil strauss has a section on it).....i tried it myself, insane it seriously works,

You can change your opening-line from "i need help buying a gift for my girlfriend" to

"Hi, can i ask your female opinion about something"

"I was wondering what kind gift girls like nowerdays"
or
"What do boys buy their girlfriend nowerdays"

You can tell them a story about your best friend having to work overtime and asking you to buy his girlfriend a gift for their anniversary or bla bla

Then you can follow up by asking her to give u her opinion about you having to buy HIS GIRLFRIEND a gift for THEIR anniversary.

Maybe you can venue-change by telling her you saw something at the other side of the store and want her opinion about it..

I've done a few of tho'se openers myself, so if done right it should work for you and your friends! Also what i've noticed is that i'm getting much better results going solo into a single lady at a store rather than with a group of friends bumrushing the girl..
