This is something that I'm not familiar with in the PUA community.

What does the PUA social collective think about medication to deal with anxiety?
I was on Xanax for a short period of time; never sarged with it though. I don't think it's really a bad thing to have in your arsenal... I mean, if you clinically need it.

Are meds commonly used or not? or are they frowned upon?

I think most of that shit will pacify you to one degree or another, which my be great for anxiety but doesn't really make you that social | motivated

I'm a horny male in my mid-20s... there is nothing on this earth that can pacify my sex drive...

but honestly... I feel like when I took Xanax I had the inhibition that alcohol gave me, minus all the bad aspects.... like forgetting my phone number or throwing up on myself.

If you get a chance to try some I strongly recommend it.
Alcohol is a much stronger pacifier... I've told HB 8s to fuck off cus I was too drunk to find my way to the bathroom. I think meds could be a way to cool the anxiety without any of those "bad aspects"

ok, peace

Hey CDC,
i think everyone has AA at different levels and everyone will have different methods to try and control it. Obviously everyone also reacts differently to various drinks/drugs so its a big variable i guess. If your telling HB 8's to fuck off and the drugs seem to work with you, i say go for it. as long as you dont get dependant on them. Although what alcohol where you drinking? if it was beer of some kind of whiskey/bourbon they have a tendancy to increase aggression. When im out, a few spirits like vodka just take that edge off and give me abit more confidence, i always seem to get "silly drunk" and the girls love that as i seem to neg and use more physical ways of picking up.

The meds WONT cure your anxiety. YOU will cure your anxiety. Yea, you might not feel as anxious when you take the xanax but once you get off of it your anxiety will be back. If not even worse and youll be dependent on the Xanax. Youll want that feeling back and will have no other way to get it back unless you use xanax. You want natural confidence right? Then do the natural thing. You need to work on your inner game and your anxieties will take care of themselves. Dont use this medication as a quick fix to your problems.

Of course these doctors are going to reccomend you these prescriptions. They make business out of it. They know deep down that the best way to cure any anxiety is naturally and theres really nothing wrong with you just the way you think. In my opinion I think they do it for the money so youd be coming back and back to see how your doing when it comes to issuing prescriptions. Dont think im saying doctors are bad. Doctors are very good but sometimes they do stuff for money and want you to get the "Short term gratification quick fix".

Ja, I knew someone who took Xanax (and other anxiety meds). Problem was he came out with more problems than he had before taking the crap. He couldn't get a hard-on with a girl cause the meds messed him up.

Find something that you can be good at. Anxiety is an indicator of low self-esteem, confidence and that you have no control of your life. If you build that up, you may never need Xanax or any anxiety meds again.

Take Yoga, it can only help.

Think about WHY you have anxieties in the first place and fix what you can. Do you have too much debt, do you live with parents, what gives you the most anxieties, etc.? And start working on those problems. Eventually you will start seeing improvements in your own life and your anxiety will become less and less.

If you are taking Xanax, I hope you are seeing a psychaitrist or counselor to help you understand your problems, otherwise, you are just throwing money at meds but not fixing the problem.

Fact of the matter is, a girl wants a guy who has his crap together. Taking Xanax is NOT having your stuff together. Take care of the problem first before getting into a relationship.

Best,

J-Dub

In extreme cases I would recommen meds; but outside of scenarios where the fear is truly crippling then I wouldn't give it the green light.

However, throughout I would keep a watchful eye on your dependancy on the drug.

And just a heads up to a couple of posters anxiety of socialising is NOT just caused by low self esteem.

Often it an develop like any other phobia.
