| Well, at a canteen, there are several approaches you can take.
For instance, while in line for food and your target is next to you, start a conversation or neg the food that is offered, make sure she hears you or that she knows you are talking directly to her. If she laughs, your in and then offer to sit together (this works better when the canteen is crowded, so you may want to go during the busiest time).
If not in line but walking to a table, find someone that you would like to target and just ask if you can sit there (but don't seem creepy). Do the stare tests, look for IOI and move in. But make sure she isn't done with her meal, otherwise it will be an excuse for her to leave. Again, this works when its really busy.
One thing that really gets girls to come to me is when I fix my own food. They will say something like "That's not on the menu" or "that looks really good, what is it". I make sure I bring enough to even share so I can continue the rapport with "hey, I have more than I can eat, would you like to try it?" ...that really gets them and I am instantly in...trust me...it works like a charm...
I find that cooking is one of my best assets. When girls come over, sometimes I'm cooking something that they just can't resist to try. I can't tell you how many times my dates ended up just staying at my crib over a meal then on to other stuff... ; )
Best of Luck,
