Hey, just got home after my first attempted sarging. I had to go to town anyway to get some bits and pieces, thought i may as well try to sarge whilst i was there.

I dont care at all about the results, im leaving for uni on sunday so theres no way i would follow up on any numbers anyway, just wanted to get over some AA before i leave.

1) Got on the bus to go to the high street, straight away, HB 8.5 is sitting at the back, alone with a seat next to her. Sat down infront of her and turned round

Me: Hey
HB: Hi
Me: I like ur necklace (she was wearing some medallion type thing)
HB: oh thanks, i just bought it ##smiles and plays with her hair##
Me: yeah, it looks kinda like the ones the rappers used to wear, you ever seen that guy with the big clock??
HB: ##shocked look but laughing## What the guy from the farm? it doesnt look like that!!!
Me: well a little bit

opened with a compliment then negged her immediately, not sure if it was a good idea but it came out pretty natrually so i went with it. Did the Handshake routine which went down well. After that we mostly talked about situational stuff, there was a cute chinese baby standing in the takeout window which i pointed out, etc etc.

Didnt have the balls to attempt a close, she got off the bus and said 'well, cya' and seemed sorry i hadnt asked her for a number, oh well.


2) As i get off the bus, i amaze myself by asking a girl, maybe a 6.5 (again alone) eating from a mcdonalds bag if i could have a chip.

Her: Yes! ##laughs##
Me: Thanks, im going to work in a minute i need all the energy i can get
Her: oh i've just finished college for the day (why did she tell me this? i have no idea)
Me: oh really? are you studying english? (shes got a thick accent, not sure if this was a neg or not)
Her: yeah #sigh# you can tell
Me: No ur english is really good, i love your accent, where are you from??

and so on and so on

Her bus pulls up just as i was thinking about closing, so again i open but fail to close, she leaves.


3) After this shockingly good start (i was expecting to totally bottle it and talk to no one) my AA starts to kick in and i ignore maybe 6 or 7 viable 3-5 sets of college girls on lunch breaks. I buy what i need to buy and then see a 3 set wearing white uniforms, two 7s and a 5.

Me: Hey you alright girls??
7: Yeah we're good
Me: Ur uniforms are cool, what are they for?? (i know damn well what their for, it means they are studying beauty therapy at the college, but i ask anyway)
other 7: haha their not cool! we're studing BT at the college
7: Your the first person i've met that likes them!
Me: Yeah well im an individual like that, whos your friend?

they introduce the 5 and we shake hands, i dont bother with the routine as shes got a decent grip on her and i dont think she'd buy it.

conversation goes quickly south from here, i forgot to time constraint at the start like i did with the mcdonalds girl but i make up some bullshit and eject.

That one completely dented my confidence, i didnt even pick a target and settled for some lame conversation and couldnt pull it back round once it'd gone sour.

after that i hop on the bus ignoring about 50,000 chances to open individuals and sets and went home. No numbers, i still have a major case of AA but i did open a few times and i opened at set which i never thought i'd do. I pretty much avoided canned openers but this is something i will probably change in future as i dont think i made enough of an impression, especially on the set.


Any comments??

as for 1st attempts that was pretty good. Be proud that you opened all those sets. My advice (which seems like youre on the right track btw) is baby steps. Work on your openers. Do as many as you can on a single day and it should fix your AA.

As far as your A2 stage, it is my impression that you should DHV more. You almost seem to open the sets pretty well, but youre conveying too much interests on them. They should be into you not the other way around. Choose a target neg/ignore them. Work on the obstacles. Then isolate the target. close.

But overall your doing very well. For alot of newbies starting out, AA usually stops them where they'll only open 1 or 2 sets then stop. You jumped in head first so congrats and be proud!

thanks a lot for the feedback mate, really means a lot 2 know im getting some of it right.

Ur right i do think dhv is where i'll struggle (i sort of expected this, im a naturally modest person) and im quite young (19) so im not gonna measure up to older guys in terms of stories. I try to dhv by just being confident, polite etc but its not enough and i know it, i need to find some stories with spikes which are believable for my age group (so nothing about former jobs, long term girlfriends etc) which i can lie with until i get some decent ones.

Obviously im also having trouble closing. Its like i'll throw caution to the wind and approach someone (i get into a 'nothing to lose' mentality and just go for it) but then im scared to ruin all my good work by attempting to close and coming off weak. I know this is stupid and the whole point of sarging is to get the close but thats exactly what i was thinking at the time; 'dont close yet, you'll muck it up'

like i said take it as baby steps. Focus on your openers for now. Once you got the set hooked see how far you can take it. Just for learning purposes. But try not to get too stressed on closing just work on the steps that will eventually take you there.

But so far for a beginner youre doing good. Keep it up.
You may want to consider sarging w/ someone else. You'll findout its awhole lot more of a learning experience than you'd expect.
