I was in the field for the first time last night with a friend of mine. I was going to use the 'didja see the guys fighting outside?' opener, but I felt that I should put a little spin on it. Since I had a wing (his first time too) who has a bad history with girls that wanna screw him over the opener I came up with (and first I've ever used) was this:

<walking buy rather loudly> I'm sure any girl could give you a better answer!
<quick turn to the two-set's table> Excuse me, could we get a girl's opinion? My friend here has two girls fighting over him. No, really the lucky guy needs to make a choice here and I have no idea what to tell him. The one is his ex girlfriend, they broke up when she cheated on him. The other is [either the girlfriend of our close buddy, or my ex who I know would be using him]. Who should he go with?

The great thing (I thought) about this opener is that the girls always said "You should find a third." Which leads to further conversation. Hope this is line with the rules, 'tis my first post and I read them over, but I apologize if I missed something!

i like it, but dont ever say excuse me or ask to ask the question. theres no room for politness here! lol. seriously, much better to just open with, hey, "quick question we need a female perspective on this" but i like the twist as it shows women fight over your friend "dhv" for him and for you by association

Although this DLV by association. Why would he want to take back a girl who has cheated on him?

The two girls fighting over him was good. The spin could be: 'Unfortunately two friends he has known for a while have fallen for him. They known each other but they dont the other likes him. He doesnt want to hurt either one but he enjoys their friendship etc etc'
