Was out with my friends and at the table behind us were 3 hb's. We turned round and joked for a bit with them and then went back to our own table.

Later in the night 1 hb9 was alone talkin on her phone and sounded angry. Once she had finished talkin I turned to her and said

Scudd: "Ok u don't sound happy. Let's play a game to cheer u up"
Hb9: laughs "ok u better cheer me up tho"
Scudd: "ok but I make the rules and no cheatin"

So from ther I did the 5 questions game and caught her out... "I only played that game to make u look stupid." She laughed and said I was evil.

So anyways we talked for a bit "how do u kno ur friends blah blah blah." And then went into the cube. Before we started I made her face me and I held my hands out for the first compliance test I ever tried. Worked like a charm. As I started the cube a friend of a friend came over and was like "aahh why u asking her this blah blah blah" he wasn't being a dick or anything but I didn't want him to ruin my game so I said "aaa this is afc he is cool... but give us amoment we're trying something here." From ther he just sat watchin in the background so I felt I handled that well.

She was impressed with the cube and was a good laugh but then the bad part. Here friends came over and said to her "come on we're gettin a taxi now."

Hb9: "aww no way ur a fun guy. Was realy nice meetin u." hugged me and left
Scudd "ok toodles pleasure meeting u" didn't ask for number.. cried for a bit. went home lol

Even tho I didn't get a k or # close I was still impressed with myself cause everything rtan so bloody smootly. But what shud I have done after she hugged me instead of just lettin her go? I should have done better ther

As soon as her friends said they were getting a taxi you should have pulled out your cell phone and the rest pretty much would have taken care of itself. Outside of that good job, nice fluidity, and she had FUN! You had all the elements of a good pickup.

Keep it up man, and they'll be eating out of your hand in no time.

Good set bro. I can sense that once her friends came by everything leading up to her leaving went so quickly, no? I'm pretty sure it must have felt that way.

Either way. Try getting the number say... 10 minutes after the start of the set. Just say a false time constraint like "I've been leaving my buddies out there in the dust, so I'm going to see what they're up to.." and follow up with ",just in case I don't run into you later, I'm going to take down your number."

Best way to get a number is to not necessarily ask for it, but to demand it in a subtle way. It's a lot more affective, and not quite so "needy" sounding as a "can I get".

But moral to the story is to try and get the number mid-game. Then that opens up the opportunity for you to close with a more genuine close.
