In no particular order:
1. HEAT - One of the few (or perhaps only) times where Al Pacino and Robert DeNero share the screens, epic length and characters you can give a shit about. Add to that the shoot out in LA is absolutely amazing (I'm sure Andy McNab (ex SAS) helped out quite a bit in that department. Amazing soundtrack to boot too, something you may hear a few times.
2. CONAN THE BARBARIAN - Being a follower of Nietzche anyway, I agree with the philosophy behind this film. Add to that I also have a personal interest in ancient mythology, legend and civilizations. Worth mentioning the original stories by Robert E. Howard are amazing too.
3. MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL - I can't really decide between this or Life of Brian as they more or less are equal in my book but I saw this one first. Better than their TV shows in my honest opinion but fucking incredible and two of the funniest films I have EVER seen!
4. MULHOLLAND DRIVE - I will also mention I am a massive fan of David Lynch. Very fond of the bizarre and the weird, being an utterly pretentious git. Though as is evident from this list I like to let go and just sit back. However this is filled with nice bizarre imagery and a fucking creepy soundtrack to boot.
5. MAD MAX 2 - Fucking amazing!!! I love this film to bits! Car chases, post-Apocalyptic landscapes, just incredible! Also bleak and simplistic. First film was great too. Shame the third was in a word; shit.
6. ROMPER STOMPER - Australian film which caused a similar controversy over there as A Clockwork Orange over here, being about a gang of Australian neo-Nazi thugs. Also worth noting as among Russell Crowe's first films. Absolutely nothing grautuitous about this and probably will be a bit much for most people to take but still a really good film.
7. BRAVEHEART - First saw this when I was 11, had a somewhat profound effect on me and was just amazing. Later it was immensely inspiring. It is however amazingly historically inaccurate (William having an affair with Princess Isabella, the Scots being a rabble of peasants (for those who care they were fully trained professional soldiers), William Wallace being the son of a farmer. He was the son of a knight etc. Thats enough history lesson for today anyway kids...
8. BLADE RUNNER - Already been mentioned here for good reason. Aside from Philip K. Dick being an awesome author (I've yet to read the source material for this, for those who aren't in the know then check out 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'). Add to that this has more or less influenced every sci fi film since.
9. SUSPIRIA - Creepy as Hell Italian horror thriller, really unnerving soundtrack too and a really occult vibe to it also. Without question the best horror movie I have ever seen. It's not very easy to scare me and though I don't like to hype things up, this definitely left me very freaked out.
10. LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY - Well I resisted putting this down as its a favourite of many and has become part of pop culture but really just mind blowing to see the amount of effort that went into this. Being fond of the books too helps. Technically 3 films, but more or less several as one really. A phoenominal achievement and stands up there with the greatest of mythology.
There are also numerous short films I could mention such as the early work on David Lynch and also Jan Svankmejer and The Brothers Quay. Other notable mentions on my part would be Star Wars, Night of the Demon, Looking For Richard, My Summer of Love, A Clockwork Orange, This is England, The Crow, 1984, The Thing, Escape From New York, The Last of the Mohicans, Rob Roy, Night of the Living Dead, American Beauty, Zatoichi, Assault on Precinct 13, Santa Sangre, Before Sunrise.
Also to those that mentioned Resident Evil... what is wrong with you!?

That was without question one of the most boring and terrible films I have ever seen!!!

I'll go back to sipping my wine now anyway and discussing the genius of obscure French and Eastern European film directors.
