I've decided to grow my hair out long. Unfortunately, I have a big problem with it frizzing out and just not looking cool at all. Any tips you can give me on fixing this problem and any hairstyles I might try?

There is a product (think it comes in a tube) called "silicon drops" or "silicon beads" or something like that. It works great for me, the hair becomes shiny and nice and a bit heavier so that you dont look like the lion king after 5 minutes. And it is not as hard as gel so it doesnt look slimy or anything.

Styles... Try a ponytail first, that way youll get used to the idea, there arent so many manly things you can do with long hair., most haircuts are girlish. For a reason. You could get dreads or braid your hair. Put some color in it...

If you want to make your hair straight, this is what I'd suggest following:

-Wash your hair with soap only 1-3x a week so you don't strip too much away from the hair.
-Wash with a small amount of conditioner (one with essential oils), or spray leave-in conditioner once a day to re-hydrate your hair.
(Optional) Add natural, or plant-based grooming gel and comb through

Using these hydrating methods can not repair frizzy, or damaged hair, but will make it feel better, look better, and easier to manage.

I wouldn't suggest it, but you can iron your hair too!
Next, section the different layers of your hair. Starting from the bottom, take a flat iron on med, med-low heat, and quickly slide it down from the top of the head to the end of your hair. Repeat about 2-3 times for each section of hair until straight, and finish off with the top layer of hair (otherwise it'll get all messed up and you'll want to start over).
Finish off with a spray to "HOLD" it in place.

If you decide to use the straightener, you run the risk of long-term hair damage..to the point where you'd probably rather just cut it all off. If you don't care about how it looks, just throw it in a ponytail, or ask the kind of girl you're looking for what would look good on you..extra points for that one!

Yay, I can contribute to something. :D

Right I dont kwow if this helpsm but I have long hair and it is naturally frizzy, I cant do alot about it. but most days I manage to have the exact look I want (which is smooth, healthy and straight). Just to note that I dont blow dye my hair ever and I wear in in a bun - so unsure how to make the tail look nice.
I wash my hair everyday, But use baby shampoo (as it is not too strong) most days. every two or three days I use proper shampoo and conditioner. As mentioned leave in conditioner is brillliant as is hair serum. I also use a small amount of gell just to get it to sit right. If you tie your hair in a bun or double it up it will develope a kink. Dont be too rought or brush it when its wets as the hair is more brittle. wear it down when you sleep. Straightening once a week or two helps also If I can think I more I will add them.

As for style I would just make sure it the sides and front look nice (I had trouble with tatty bits for a while). and I personally thinks it looks better all one length. you can dye your hair but your only really limited to streaks / underside, racoon tails, colour gradients, rainbows. I have an undercut in my hair which I tend to dye leopard spots, cartoon face, card suits into. I also get differnent designs shaved in every ever shave.

hope this helps

constantly comb/brush your hair. i've been growing mine out for 5 years and doing that on a daily basis has helped. the first 2-8 months are the UGLY stage. try wearing a hat or beanie, it looks koo fluffed out.

after the first 5 months, only wash your hair every other day. washing it everyday doesn't really help it grow.

straighten and product.
Straightening only works if one wishes the hair to fall out. Product will likely help; just do not go for the cheap stuff and experiment until one finds which works.

Not if you use heat defense SPAM and don't over burn the hair. Make sure if you do straighten it though to use some sort of hair replenishing leave in conditioner ( mouthful ). Oh and some good products are - Gritty buisness and That garnier fructus Manga Hair, both are non greasy which is what you want and the latter is cheaper then the first. I use them both because Gritty buisness drys your hair out heaps.

Still false, and not worth the risk. Using heat, chemicals, etc. to straighten hair is going to cause split or broken ends, and will only weaken it as a result. It is a very moronic idea, but of course it is not my call nor my problem, so proceed at your own risk, and only if you are willing to lose your hair. "It will grow back" is the mantra of bad barbers everywhere.
