I know where you are coming from. Here is are a few things that I find helps me out.
1. Regular exercise. either a sport, cardio, swimming, weight lifting its all good.
I find the more you exercise the more energy you get.
2. Eat well. If you only eat fat food filled with sugar they may give you a sugar high for a little while but then you crash (same thing with energy drinks ) and you are out of energy. If you eat eggs and fruits that give you good energy and you don't get the crash.
3. If you have a flat tone compensate by talking with your body. 90% of what you say is non-verbal.

The general rule is for you to understand where your diaphragm is, and to use it to talk! Your chest has to vibrate not so much your throat.
That's the basics, the other thing I have to point out is that you have to be surrounded by people who are fairly vocally expressive. if your in a environment where people demand your quiet, then this will never work for you. You'll have to do warm up exercises all the time.
I've worked with many singers and it tends to be like that, it really goes a far way if you live by yourself, and you don't have parents or brothers to share the house with. _________________ Back, starting over as of 2012.
