I'm not sure if this should be a field report or not, but I figured I'd post it here and ask a couple questions about the next step.
Attended an event through meetup.com and this girl was there last week, we talked a little and afterwards one of my friends said she looked a little interested.
This week there was another meetup. I walked past her without recognizing her, then realized she had been looking at me so I asked her if she was here for the meetup... she replies yes and smiles THEN I realize who it is, and say "oh Jill, you look different for some reason." (She was wearing glasses, I think that's what threw me... hopefully this came across as a neg instead of me being inconsiderate.
)
Another girl is there and neither of them saw the rest of the group, so I went to check the back, found everyone and told the girls where to go. I went toget my drink, and when I got over there the only seat open was right next to Jill. Perfect.
We talked quite a bit, I did a tiny amount of kino. (Nudged her arm, encouraging her to kick some people off another couch when more members showed up and poked her arm again later mock-blaming her for something.) Eventually she got to talking to the guy on the other side, and my drink was gone so I got up to get another drink.
When I got back the other girl on the couch had kinda moved into my space, so I grabbed a chair across from the couch. Jill looks up and says "What, too good for us now?" Or something, I replied back with something like "For the moment, anyway." And started talking to some of the other people there. Basically trying to look more social and like I wasn't stuck on just her or something.
The only problem was, a few minutes later the seat on the other side of her opened up and I hesitated to take the seat back... and one of the other guys sat next to her for the rest of the night.
Jill and I still talked off and on over the couch, until I just started getting really tired and one of the other girls was kind of boring everyone with lame stories. So I stood up, and next break in one of those stories announced I was leaving, at which point everyone else decided it was time to leave too. (Heh, suddenly I felt just a bit alpha
) I kind of waited while everyone gathered their stuff, then started slowly walking towards the door. I had hoped she'd be there, but I guess she didn't have all her stuff or something because she was nowhere in site... so unfortunately I never got a chance to get her number or try to make plans or anything.
(I felt like waiting outside would have been creepy...)
So, feel free to critique all that. Not sure if I should have left the couch or not, but I'm pretty sure I should have gone back.
Then the question is, what's the next step? Wait until I see her again? Send her an email through meetup? Add her on facebook?
